Offical Women's Fitness Lounge progress pics challange....

Hi ladies,
These photo's were taken last year. I was out of shape and pretty flabby.
I'll be taking progress pictures as well(probably monthly) and will share them here.
I hope to see results within 6 months.

That's sweet!
MkM, go for a power walk. That way you stay active, or when you return it will be very hard to go back..
My fluff is finally starting to go away, thankfully!

Thank you eddymerckx! that's very kind of you.
I am most concern with the fluff around my abs. This is due to hormones where one (on menopause) tend to hold bf. The feel of it is a lot worse then it looks. I felt like a cow then. It's getting better however.
I am doing squats, deads, lunges, in addition to working on my delts and back. It just takes a bit longer for women and especially at my age. But, I'll slowly get there by comp time, April-May.

menopause? now i am insanely impressed!!!!!!

I have no doubt you will be ready if you look as you do now.

A good friend of mine has a problem building muscle while keeping trim
(also menopausal)--she found that splitting her cardio to two short sessions--one each before and after her workout helped her build and stay lean w/o getting too lean.

on a different note, she keeps a subtle tan and it helps her realize that the fluff is really not much at all.

good luck!!!!!!

Thank you! I'm 52 and just entered menopause a couple of months ago.
I do the double cardio only when I'm close to comp. It's basically a matter of tweeking hormones. I'm getting a bit higher dose of estrogen and very little progesterone, so is getting better. I'm very stubborn. I could give the illution of looking leaner, but I want to 'be' leaner. Is all attainable, but is like working on a science experiment, lol!
I think I'm a bit thicker now in terms of muscles. Yeah!. I'll post pics on the next few days.
Thanks for the support!

Progress pics taken January 2nd. Legs, back and shoulders are thicker. Yeah!
Still fluffy, but that's ok, I'm working on it.

Curvymommy - LOVE THE AVATAR! I hope we will be seeing more of you in the coming year. :) We all miss you.

:bigkiss: Thank you Bikinimom!!! I  you! I'm so very happy you drew me back into EF with a friendly PM over a year ago, stoking the fire of the passion I have developed for fitness and my health. YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE in my life because of that.:verygood:

I'm gonna be around in 2009! It's just that I'm starting a new career and trying to focus on my family.

Damn Thandie, we should all be that *fluffy* LOL but I do understand what you are saying. I am only in perimenopause and just began the hormonal lab experiment and it is not fun. But I do know 1000% (as if I had a doubt before) there is nothing that will take the place of eating better and moving about.

I don't need any progesterone yet. Just test and estrogen. We are trying to find the proper dosages. My doc will give me as much test as I like. I will up the dose as much as I want as long as there are no sides and I am happy with the result. It's not magic but it definitely makes a HYUGE difference in my fat distribution (as I noted BEFORE my hubbie dragged me on the roadtrip from hell) and my state of mental well-being (or is it the estrogen that makes me feel less crazy, I dunno) and of course, my physical well-being. The flashing and nightsweats were unbearable when they came.

I can't begin to imagine life with that crap for the REST of my life. Goodness I don't know how our mothers and grandmothers, etc survived. :worried:

Thank you Curvymommy!

BkM, I hear you. I'm on .5mg of tetosterone, which is really nothing, but I don't need it much. My Dr. said is bc I train so hard, my test goes up. I'm also very low on Progesterone and estrogen is a bit higher. But is does makes a huge difference. I don't get the sweats, but I get flashes for about 1 minute where it feels like an inferno. I often wonder as well how our parents did it. It's Unimaginable to think of living without hormones.
Thank God for that!!!

I'm actually looking forward to this :p as I'm a "FREEZEBABY" and just can NEVER get warm.
I live for days when it's HOT HOT HOT!!

This is too funny!

I am also very, very cold and looooove 95 degree weather bc I can never get warm. I also used to say I coudn't wait to get the hot flashes so I can warm up. But, the heat is unbearable, then after the hot flash you get a cold flash, and for people like you and I, it feels like a sheet of ice on the body. Not pleasant!
Sometimes when I walking on the street and is really cold I say "God, send me a hot flash" at that moment is really welcomed.
