pick up some weights and start your warm up relizeing your weak as hell and not into it,and drive back home?i would rather not do a workout than know that i'll be going half ass...what u guys think?(i just did it today)

If I took the time and energy to drive to the gym I would not go home, ever. I have done this before and have felt good about it, but I don't think I will continue that practice anymore. In that situation it is no-doubt mental in nature (unless you haven't slept, haven't ate, have a hangover or some other dumb reason that should've red-flagged you before you even drive to the gym!). Go out-side relax, breath, pray, growl, spit, get mad, focus and go back inside with renewed strength. That is my opinion on how the situation should be handled.

:good:

For one thing, always make sure you're properly fueled before you leave for the gym. Never short change yourself on food and you'll never feel weak and not into it. Sometimes I go into the gym and I don't feel like lifting heavy things that make my arms hurt. But when I start curling roll up my sleaves and watch the veins pop out and the old men stop and look at me...I get all revved up again.

Dude, don't worry about it. I've had days like that too. I lift often enough to know on that the few days a year I'm not feeling it, I take the night off. Even if you're already at the gym. Go home and don't sweat it. The gym will be there in the morning.

I'd say you only have to start worrying if this starts happening consistently, more than say once every few months.

Gymtime said exactly would i was about to.

If it's your career, then you got something to worry about, but if like me it is a hobby, then worry not.

"The gym will be there in the morning." - and so will you with plenty of rest, a gleam in your eye and a grunt in your breath ready to take on "just one more rep..."

Excactly :)

yea, but how many times have you just not felt into it and then you start working out, sweating out that BS shit that's in you (whether related to job stress, school stress, or a little lost sleep) and then you end up having a great workout. Then you go home all pumped up.

That's happened to me a few times in my lifting career, so I always head to the gym, even when I feel sorta out of it, hoping that lifting will snap me out of it.

I agree, but stress and being run down [physically] can have different effects.

Like you say, one can help, but the other can hinder.

Now that is the reason I always bring a mp3 player with me with some badass music. That way I get some good motivation. If that still happens it pisses me off enough for me to still get a good workout.

Make sure you do light warmup cardio for 10 mins before lifting. When you're warmed up and sweating a bit you'll always be ready to lift.
