I grew up with hardcore rap, and that's why I hate it. It contributed to a shitty mentality that landed me in prison. Plus I'm a guitar player/singer so I can't relate to it anymore. Ever since it's been going mainstream, it's been getting weaker and weaker anyway. Now it just seems gay.

Politically correct and easily brainwashed. Does that mean you have to like shit? I call it for what it is. I have to hear that shit at work when wannabethugs pull up blasting their loud (pseudo-music) and I heard a lyric that went like this: "If you gonna rob the man, might as well kill him." Yeah, I call it for what it is, SHIT. And I don't respect it.

People should try to listen to all types of music to get an appreciation for all of it. Who knows you might find something that you really enjoy that you might not have given a chance in the first place. IMO today's country music has some of the worst lyrics out there now. They are all pop bubble gum songs with lyrics like Tequila makes her clothes fall off and most of Kenny Chesney's songs. I mean the lyrics in a lot of country songs glorify getting drunk so in some ways they could be considered as negative as some Rap lyrics.

Getting drunk and bustin' a cap in somebodies ass is slightly different. Although I hate most country music as well. Rap just takes the cake as the scummies music I've ever heard. Can't even call it music.
