I want to replace yams for brown rice in one of my meals. I only want to take in 30g of carbs for that meal. Would anybody either be able to tell me how many oz of a yam that equals, or point me in the right direction? I have had no luck when running searches on yams?? If it helps it will be baked/microwaved.

well not all yams r the same size

Yea, I realize that. I have a scale. Do you know how many oz equals 30grams of carbs?? Or, x oz of yams = x number of grams of carbs??

ballpark a 4-5oz. yam would be your ideal size, +/- some

According to Calorie King which I use most of the time, 7 oz. of Yam baked in the skin would be 54.8 gr. of carbs at 231 calories.

So that is 7.8 gr per oz. So to equal the 30 gr. you speak of wanting, it would be just at 4 oz.(31.3 gr. carbs)

The measure I always use is 1 cup mashed (boiled/no skin)= 80 grams of carbs. I got it from fitday.com
