How much does it really cost to compete?

Okay so I am planning on competing in October as some of you may know. And I am trying to figure out roughly how much everything will cost so I can be prepared for it. Plus I would like to find out how much it really costs to be a top competitor.

Basically the bottom line.....

How much money would I need to transform this baseball player, and two left feet gal into a pro rated competitor?

I am going to start some research today to figure it out.... Any help from you ladies and gents is greatly appreciated....
like the suits ~500
trainer ~500 per month
food bill....
supplements....
tanning....
dance classes...
gymnastics...
EVERYTHING...

if you can chime in on what things will be needed that is also greatly appreciated...

Dance and gymnastics lessons for figure? Don't need that. You'll learn more at Barbizon than you will at dance and gymnastics for figure.
Food is food so if you eat a good diet that's the same whether you compete or not.
Supplements - Subject dear to my heart - Usually $100/month
Tanning - Most of the girls I know, or sponsor, only tan for a show and many don't even do that. They just use protan.
Suits - This can be done both ways. The $500 customs suits or the $100 off the rack. I've seen both win because the judges, for the most part, are not fashion critics and don't know the difference. But some girls "feel better" in a custom suit so that may have some value.
Trainer - This one is like the suit. Many girls use trainers to take the pressure off of themselves but really don't need one once they've competed once or twice. Since you said to be a "Top Competitor" I would say this expense is needed in the beginning of your quest but not throughout. It's simply not that complicated. If your trainer shows you how to train, look in the mirror, and do quarter turns, you about finished. Assuming you already know how to diet.

Compete in what?

Trainer - $500-1000
Food-- $300/month +
Suits - figure - $5-800, bb - $300
Shoes - $70
NPC card - $75
Show application - $50
gym membership - $30/month
protan - 3 bottles off the intenet - $18x 3
tanning - $40/month
OTC supps - $100-200 /month
other supps - depends on u or not
Travel & lodging for an out of town show

Generally seems like $2-3K.

2 suits can be anywhere from $300 - $1000
My trainer is $100 down + $40 everytime I see him - I'm figuring around $500 to prep me for my shows
Food: I spend $60-70 every 2 weeks at Costco for chicken, eggs, broccoli, etc + grocery bills --> whatever that is ($5-$15/week for produce)
Tanning -- $35 a month for me
Nails -- For me Free (a friend) but normally you'd get a French manicure + tips then fills every 2 weeks
Makeup -- you need stage makeup - Like MAC (get it off ebay, it's cheaper)
Jewelry - For Figure you can wear a bracelet & earrings -- I spent $25 at Claire's for mine
Supps -- a LOT
Protan + brushes + gloves -- I get it locally for $16
Shoes - Mine were $85 for 2 pair
Gym: $73 a month for hubby & me
BB morning show suit - Mine was $22

I assumed she meant figure sassy

I was assuming that also.....

Also -- Gas + Hotel + amenties at the hotel (like a fridge) if you're travelling to a show.....

Competitor & Organizational Fees -- Each organization charges a join fee + a fee to enter the show, sometimes a fee for each category......Check the org. website for details on that.....

I just found out Frank Zane does personal training close to my home... that is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool!!!

i put a call into his office, if he doesn't train for fitness I am sure he knows someone really good in the area!!!.....

OMG FREAKIN GOD!!! I just spoke to frank zane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am freakin shaking right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he is SOOOOOOOOOO NICE!!!!

Fitness is a dead issue in bbing. I don't think it will even exist in 5 years.
