I just did the stairmaster tonight. I worked up a good sweat but my heart rate wasn't very elevated. The machine had levels 1-10 and since this was my first attempt at cardio since I was a teen 10 years ago I only put it on level 2. If I go to a higher level will I burn more calories? What do you guys do for cutting?

Try "interval training" three to four days a week. Each session should last approximately 20 - 25 minutes and if possible be done on an empty stomach. This works well for me!!

I lace up the old running shoes, and do a few miles.

they seem gay as hell untill u get used to them, but those eliptical machines that have the arm thingy's work great.

I maintain a heart rate around 180-200 for a half hour. Its too high for fat burn but I figure I need to develop my lungs first. The problem I have with fat burn heart rate range is that i dont sweat at that low of a rate. 130? who sweats at 130 beats per minute?

I do! Try doin it on an almost empty stomach so you have the energy to keep goin after 25min. Once you get into a "groove" or mental "loop" you'll go for an hour and you won't even realize it. After twenty minutes you should zone out and if you don't; try to, cause it helps bigtime.

bro, anything that gets your ass sweating for more than 25 minutes is good..every summer i get cut without AS and all i did was do at least 20-30 minutes on the bike....i dont' go by all the technical shit of having your heart beat elevated at a certain degree for a certain time..you know when your burning fat. after first 5 minutes of warmup, pick up the pace and do the machine enough to make you start sweating by the first 10 minutes...my favorite has been the bike..just get a walkman, listen to music, and put your mind somewhere else..cause i hate cardio..but after a while got bored of bike..no just run..

Running is like the best cardio you can do, it burns the most calories..unless you want to go skiing

1banshee is right. Try intervals, either 30/30 or if that is tough, start with a good warm-up then jog for 1 min and sprint for 30 secs. What I do Is at the local high school they let anyone use the track. I walk one lap, jog one lap then I jog the curves and sprint the staights. Sometimes I'll even walk the curves and sprint the straights. Sprinting will actually burn more fat have a less a chance of burning muscle cause the sprints will build muscle, From what i have read anyway...............

I can maintain a 130beats per minute for an hour and barely break a sweat. I have to get my heart rate up high (175-200)in order to sweat like I want to.

I do most of my cardo in the AM before i eat. Although I really dont see how that helps all that much from what i have read to date. your boddy depletes its glucose stores in about 10 minutes, then its off to youe muscles for the energy. I need to read up more on the subject though.

go thirty to forty minutes on a tread mill. Anything less is not using your time and effort wisely. You should push your self after you get conditioned properly. Running exerts more energy than any other exercise. I lost shit loads of fat by pushing myself to do cardio on a tread mill three times a week for thirty or forty minutes. If I started to lose to much muscle I upped the calories.
