How many calories are considered.........

too much for a meal? On or off, I'm trying to dial in my bulking diet and I'm afraid two of my meals have too many cals.....

Meal 1 = 500 cals

MEALS 2 = 3/4 CUP STEEL CUT RAW
1 CUP EGG WHITES
300G DRY CURD COTTAGE CHEESE, W/ A COUPLE STRAWBERRIES, 1/2 APPLE/ 1/2 BANANA = ABOUT 750CALS..............TOO MANY?

MEAL 3 - 600 CALS

MEAL 4 = 400 CALS

PW SHAKE = 300 CALS

MEAL 5 - 5-6 LARGE HANDFULLS PEANUTS, 32 OZ CASEIN,EGG SHAKE, 300G DRY CURD COTTAGE CHEESE - 700-800 CALS??? TOO MUCH?

Much thanks!

There is really not an absolute truth for this. The best approach is the simplest: Total Daily cals/number of meals, give or take 10% and that is what your meals should look like.

I have read that about 800-1000 in one sitting is borderline (again, it depends so much on each individual that is almost useless to claim it). In those cases, the Pizza example was used...

in any case, for you, having 25-30% of your daily cals in one sitting is definitely too much. Remember the deal is to have a constant stream of nutrients, not a peak here and there.

Meal 5 should be okay since your body will be able to absorb more nutrients after training, however you might want to look at cutting down on meal 2. Perhaps switch meal 2 with meal 1 since you will be less likely to store fat at breakfast.

BMR - I need about 3,240..........meal #2 really isnt that filling......think I botched the calories? It doesnt seem like that big of a meal.........surely you guys eat the quivalent........

I pretty much eat the equivalent of what you eat in meal 2 for breakfast, only I eat fat-free yoghurt instead of cottage cheese. My other 6 meals are all between 300 - 400 Kcals, except for my post PWO shake meal, which is about 650 Kcals.

Your bigger calorie meals should be breakfast, preworkout, and postworkout. You can eat about 700-800 calories at these times, while I would stick to about 400 at other times.

I hate to say it and will put the flame suit on, but I firmly believe pre and post w/o meals are highly overrated...........As long as your nutrients and calories are balanced throughout the day, pre and post and just added measures. I eat every 2.5 hours. I've eated high carb, low carb, nothing for 2 hours, post workout and preworkout and found nothing to really change.....If I eat at 1 and lift and 1:45, i'll eat around 3pm no matter when I'm done training.........anyways, I agree with the post of eating higher caloric meals earlier in the day.........training or non..........

Facts are facts and first thing in the morning and PWO you windows of oppurtunities in terms of the insulin levels in your body. Preworkout I can see the debate, but not post or in the AM.
