Help w/ Carb & Water Depletion for a Contest

Ok ladies....I was wondering (im sure this has been posted before but I cant find anything) if any of you could point me in the right direction as far as carb depletion/water depletion goes....???? Maybe some previous threads or links? Is it a good idea to carb deplete or water deplete? Together? Separate? .....Anything else I need to be doing the week of?

Im trying to look around and read some stuff....nothing specific enough yet...or maybe Im just not picking up the right threads :)

personally I dont water deplete... i stop at 6pm the night b4 and lower friday to a gallon. i will start sat sunday at low carbs..50g..then increase monday tues wed 100 g then 75 thurs fri 50 again and eat yams and honey on the day of show..i sodium deplete starting friday am and take B6 and C starting wed. Dr joe has always done my peak week...hes known for it. im sure everyone does it differnetly, but its worked for me.

I am going to change the title of this post - to be more specific, so the ones who have competed will give advice. :)

Hey!

I had lots of problems in both of these areas. I peaked a little too early so I had some time to mess around with this stuff to see what worked for my body. Carb depletion or carbing up mad NO difference with me. I had to FAT load the night before and the day of the contest. I ate peaunut butter the night before and they day of. The day of the contest I ate a peanut butter candy bar, and yams every one to two hours and looked to see how I was shaping up. I drank coffee with honey in it about 20 min before stage time. Don't think the honey and the candybar made a differnece in me. I just don't respond to simple carbs like most people.

The water deplete thing is also VERY different for different people. I cut salt at 4pm WEd and took oatmeal out of my diet and only used yams for carbs. Drank 1.5 gallons of water sun, mon, tues and wed one gallon, thursday and friday .5 gallons and none on Saturday. I also potassium loaded starting Wed...never heard of this before this contest, but it seemed to work really well.

Very interesting!! I CAN'T have PB the day of the show as it bloats me terribly....... yuck!! :worried:
 
Thanks ladies.....I will see what my trainer will say when I have the posing session this thursday.

* I think she mentioned that I will just stop taking in water friday(the day before my show) after 12pm. ....Drink lots for the whole week and then do that.

I was curious what everyone else did.... The carb depletion is a bit confusing...is it even needed? What is the concept behind it???
 
The concept behind carb depletion, in simple terms, is something like this... your muscles will always look fuller when you have carbs, so when you make a carb depletion you are depriving your body from them so that when you start eating carbs again your body will absorb them as a sponge. Therefore if you've done all things right (training, rest, diet) you will not look bloated from this carb load.

I usually begin carb deplete one week before. For example if competition is Saturday I begin the previous Sunday and deplete for about 3-4 days and depending on how I see results is when I begin carb loading and for how long.

I've done the water deplete, but only one day before competition. In particular I don't like this much because I end up with not much energy. So what I do now is drink just the necessary water by small sips, you know the one you need for your casein, supplements and such. Also I get some electrolites for after the competition.
