feeding my body throughout the night?

Hi there

Ive read a few threads about having enough protein as a last meal to keep the muscles fed throughout the night.

Im currently trying to clean bulk and im having 8 chicken breast strips aroud 11:30pm, this consists of about 300kcals and 42g protein, im also having a protein bar which gives another 250kcals and 24g protein, will this see my body thru til breakfast?

Im eating about 3700kcals per day and these are counted within that, im taking in around 300g protein within that.

Im generally having around 7-8 hours sleep per night.

I have whey shakes twice a day (40g) if im working out then i have 70g dex in the PWO shake, if not i just have the whey.

drink casien protien before bed. Casein protien has a slow release of amino acids into the bloodstream. Sort of timed released. this can last up to 7 hours after ingestion. This will help.
 
H, thanks for answering quickly.

I havent actually got any casein protein in the house at the moment.

Any suggestions on what i should do in the mean time?

I have the normal stuff, ie whey, flax, etc i normally drink a whey shake with flax around 11am, and another without the flax around 9pm.

As long as your not going to bed hungry, I think you will be ok for the time being. If you have any cottage cheese, that is one of those foods that last a long time after ingestion. I personaly dont like cottage cheese, but I just try to down it right before bed with shake.
 
Thanks a lot, im gonna try to find some casein protein in the UK.

The last question i had was this: Would you ditch the chicken or keep that in there as well?

as i said i eat the chicken somewhere around 11:30pm, would i be ok to take the casein right after that?

That would be overkill. Ditch the chicken and get the Micellar Casein and take that with a carb and a fat.
 
So long as your putting something into ur stomach before u sleep, youre better off than a lot of bodybuilders. Like they said, casein protein is good before you go to sleep because it is considered "time release". You might want to find a protein meal shake that contains casein and the other two "types" of proteins. This will give you a fast release, for the first hours, medium and long for the later hours. AST has one that has all three and is very good. And something that is controversial on this board is glutamine. I find it to be just as beneficial as protein before bed. To utilize these nutrients at night you might want to use GABA which is a neurotransmitter that gives you better sleep and lowers stress levels (thus cortisol levels go down).
