Eating before bed when cutting?

Ok, let me chime in here: 2 things come to mind when I read the original post - if you say you are cutting extremely strictly as you stated, then make sure your daily nutrients are in order and dont eat before bed - but make sure you get a good amount of protein and fat all day long. The second thing is what young guns said about no carbs after working out - very bad bro, even when cutting this is your window to throw down a whey protein with some dextrose (1/3 cup = 75 carbs, 1/4 cup = 57 carbs), have atleast 1/4 cup in the protein drink and have it with ala right after your workout - it will help out big time and will not impede your progress, if anything it will help it.

I train around noon.... I definitely get my post workout carbs...
I have been eating a LOT or protein.... I'm easily getting over 200g a day, and I think I'm currently weighing around 195 and around 15% BF @ 5'10...
Now... fats, I dont think i may be getting enough of... I don't think i had more than 20g of fat yesterday, maybe 100g carbs... I've been eating every 2 hours a small meal. Whether it be a tofu dog wrapped in a low carb/fat free kraft single cheese slice, cottage cheese mixed with tuna, an open face tuna/salmon sandwhich on 1 slice of whole wheat bread, fat/carb free yogurt mixed with oats, chicken breast and green beans.... My list goes on... Any carbs I eat from around 3pm onwards come strictly from fiberous sources and my most protein rich meals fall within this time frame as well. I try to eat the most carbs in the AM when my glucose sensitivity is the best, (roughly 40g) then I try to consume less than 30g of carbs in 2 of the next 3 meals, 1 having no carbs, and all meals consuming a minimum of 20-40g protein per meal.

I think i may just vito night time eating and have a couple scoops or cottage cheese or a few slices of deli turkey 2 hours prior to bed...

Thanks for all the input guys

i like having a cup of low fat cottage cheese and some flax seed oil before bed... i cant sleep without something in my stomach.

It all depends...

Dude, there's lots of good pieces of advice here, but it also depends on what you're trying to accomplish and in what context. Are you just 'buffing up' for the summer? Is this pre-contest?
You're hungry because you're cutting your carbs pretty early in the day. Which is fine...but you should not go to bed hungry. Flax and cheese ( sharp, real cheese) will work, but those are ketosis diet solutions. If you're on calorie restriction to cut, these will work against you at night because of the fat content. So, it's protein, bro. And trust me, there is nothing that 'sounds' good when you're dieting, it's bedtime and you're hungry that you can get away with. Suck it up and eat some protein. (Anything that is prepackaged such as deli meats is garbage, too much sugar, not enough protein)
Hang in, there you'll be glad you did this summer.....

I like an egg white omelette cooked in butter flavored pam with some fat free cheese. 5 whites and a 1/4c of cheese i get

0 fat, 2 carbs, 28 protein. add a little ketchup or something for taste.

I think that eating right before bed is bad for a couple reasons: sleep may be affected and you'll wake up hungrier.

I eat about 2 hours before bed.

I agree with MiniColemans. I have a Casein and PB protein shake, a small portion of steak, or a few eggs 2-3 hours before bed. Even if you don't actually wake up, your normal sleep cycle patterns can be disrupted eating a dense meal just before bed. As well, the most significant natural Growth Hormone release comes as a result of the night time fasting coupled with the deep sleep stages. GH plays a more significant role in burning fat while preserving muscle than it does in adding muscle. This is the time when you want to take advantage of it the most.

Get some carbs postworkout, not doing so is extremely detrimental to your muscularity and your recovery. I don't care if you are on a diet or not. If you were to only eat carbs one time a day, it would be post workout. I know it's a lame ass parallel, but it's like not putting gas in your car and expecting it to run. Have a slow digesting protein with some flax before bed. Another theory, if you are starving at night maybe you should eat more early in the day to control your hunger instead of letting it build until it's out of contol.
