But didn't you say you would have a steak and potato the night before?

Yes, I would have a steak the night before (which is the fat source)... I would also in the same night have a cheesecake if that didn't fill out the muscles. I can immediately see when I fill out... it's pretty freaky! I have a baked potato too... can't explain that one... but that's pretty much the only solid carb I have that late. I also consume oatmeal in meal 1, sweet potato in meal 2, greens in meal 3 and plain rice cakes in meal 4... the steak is my meal 5... and believe it or not.... every 3-4 hours thereafter, I would have an "eatmore" bar or a handful of cashews. That's my fatload.

when you're depleting you also deplete water too no?

technically........yes..you should curb it a bit


the carb depletion itself drops a lot of water on its own..but yes - in general - cut water a bit as well

Miss24k: From what i gather, it looks like water depletion and carb loading don't happen together... (this is what Shadow said) I'm slowly learning!! ;-)

well....one day of carb loading isnt sufficient

you need 2-3 days for a full carb up

and of course you cant cut water AND carb load at the same time...
 
I haven't seen my last week's prep yet, but it's going to be something like the following:

- Carb deplete Sat or Sun thru Wed. Then start dropping the amount of protein and keeping only red meat protein - I guess for the fat, increase the amount of carbs starting Wed. Shadow is right - carbs take at least 36 hrs to start filling you out. That's why lots of people look better the day AFTER the show cuz they started carbing too late.
- Water - starting on Mon - take your body weight in oz of water, e.g. I weigh 139 that monday, so drink 139 oz water that day, and drop the amount 20% each day for the 5 days up to the show, sipping water the day of.

Note Sassy is recommending exactly what I said.....you CANNOT carb load with total water restriction
 
Thanks Sass and Shadow! Thanks for the info... can't wait to see the results! But for now... I have 18 weeks to go before I do this...my focus is to keep it clean until then... Good luck at your show Sassy - can't wait to hear good news!! ;-)
