Yeah, agreed. If weight stayed constant but there were noticable changes visually, then you most likely added some mass at the same time. Could be other factors, I guess, but either way - nice job! It sure as hell works for cutting and maintaining.
You're right. If i'd have hit all my sets/reps on squats Friday I'd be absolutely elated, and if I hadn't added the deads on monday I may have done it. I'm all about the weight on the bar. I'm quite pleased with the results.
I'm impressed. You can't loose that kind of fat around the waste and not add some decent muscle if bodyweight was constant. It's hard sometimes to keep it in perspective when you are used to bulking and gaining a lot of strength and muscle. I mean, adding significant muscle and losing significant fat at the same time is a pretty impressive feat. To bad you don't have bodycomp figures.
I really think HST is a nice overall format to compliment the 5x5. Same frequency, same principles, you can use the same exercises and get some more assistance work in, and you can really leverage off a good strength base and get a lot of progression to work in the higher rep ranges (and this is a very different range than sets of 5 so there is some synergy in moving between them for those interested in hypertrophy primarily).
I think if you come back to it in a non-cutting mode after a period of more base work (5x5 or whatever), you'll be pretty thrilled.
Bummer about the computer. Stop by as much as you can. I'd suggest picking something cheap up off Ebay but....you can't access Ebay without a computer so it's something of a conundrum (spelling?). Maybe check out the Dell flyers around the Holiday and afterward.
