Best way to tackle a long bike ride whilst cutting

I'll be taking part in a charity bike ride quite soon, it's around 40 miles, takes around 2.5-3 hours. I'm currently trying to drop some fat and gain muscle at the same time. What would be the bestw ay to tackle the bike ride? I was thinking of doing it on an empty stomach, as I handle empty stomach exercise really well. I am however, worried about potential muscle wasting.

What would people here recommend I do? I'll be starting a creatine pretty soon. Would taking creatine before my ride improve my performance by giving the necessary leg muscles a little boost? How about a protien shake beforehand, or using a sports drink such as Lucosade?

I would have posted this on the training board, but i'm more worried about the fat/muscle issues than my performance on the day.

A freind of mine is an endurance rider, he has done 100 mile races and shit like that.....I'll ask him....I know he sometimes pops a ripped fuel before or during, not sure......

You will not get signifcant muscle wasting from one 40mile ride. Eat a few good meals before the ride. Your last big meal should come 2hrs before your start. The meals should include lots of carbs and protein and little or no fat-eat a real meal too not MRPs. Between the meals snack on a energy bar and a protein shake. Make sure you are well hydrated for the ride. Plan on using a carbo sports drink during the ride. During the ride you should drink 2-3 bottles of water or the sports drink. After the ride drink a bottle of water ASAP and then have an energy bar and a protein shake. Eat a nice carbo/protein rich meal within an hour of finishing the ride. If you notice that your legs look smaller it will be because of the water you lost during the ride. Endurance rides suck the water from your body. If you follow my advice or something close to it you won't have many problems at all.

Don't worry about taking a Ripped Fuel or Creatine. The pumps from the creatine may not be fun and the Ripped Fuel will give you some energy, but the appetite suppression will not be helpful.
