Another chest question (dont hit me over the head lol, this is slightly different)

Im sure, this has been asked 10000000s times, but i feel this is somehow different.

Since my chest is lagging (due to incorrect form, and ego from the beggining, i.e. . liftin too much on the bench, using soulders and tri's more than chest) and everything else quet big, except for my chest.. im thinking WHAT IF i ONLY train chest, for the next month, see where that gets me. No other body parts for the next month. JUST chest.

Anyway, since im bulking, keeping good protein intake, (350g aveg), 4200kcals on average, 20years old, 6'4ft, 237lbs.

So anyway i was thinking go gym like for 4 times in total for the next month, work my chest once a week (as i discovered training twice a week, something in the past, didnt get my nowhere), have a good diet during the week, would i just carry on my normal workout which consists on 4 different chest exercises, 4 sets for each one, or should i take advantage of training ONCE a week, and absolutely overkill my chest, by doing 7 different exercises, 4 sets for each one.. as im thinking: damn, my body will have shitloads of time to recover, as all its got to work on is 1 major muscle group..? Right? Any imput would be greatly appreciated, let me know what you guys think.. ? :)

Aah alright, thanks for the info guys.. but what do you actualy guys think of absolutely hammering the chest once a week? i.e. 7 exercises x 4 sets for each one..? i just really wanna look in proportion.. :) or should i just carry on chest routine thats been working for me? which is 3 exercises x3 sets?

Re: Another chest question (dont hit me over the head lol, this is slightly different

try less chest work with more focus on the muscle working.

Might also give a classical 5x5 a go with twice a week benching.

I use a powerlifting style bench, but if you did 5x5 with a very strict bodybuilding style bench this would give a fair amount of volume, intensity and frequency to your chest.

I would check out 5x5 programs and read up on training/periodization. You would likely get better gains using a good, well designed and time proven program than once a week blitzing or multiple times a week with way too much volume and overlap with no real scientific backing to it.

I've pretty much dropped once a week style training. When you learn more about fitness and fatigue and use a well designed program things become alot more quantifiable rather than well if I do x amount of exercises and sets then I think I should get some kind of effect from it.

Training multiple times a week with a more whole body approach is superior imo. For advanced bb I would just add in a few sets of concentrated work for certain areas like traps, calves, bi's.

This is just my opinion, but I have used pretty much every kind of program off and on for the last 16 years during periods when I haven't stopped working out for whatever reason and once I learned about quality program design and fitness/fatigure (thanks Madcow) things just make sense now.

One of my favorite analogy's is comparing lifting to sun tanning. You don't go all out fry yourself in an epic 2 hour tanning session once a week. Nor do you get any where tanning a paltry amount like a couple minutes a day. You need enough intensity (% of 1 rep max, ie direct sun light) and duration(think volume in a workout) with enough frequency to achieve the desired result.

I'll shut up now.
