ALA and Carnitine doses

ok, so there;s a sale on in 2 supplement shops, and its like a 1/2 price or better sale in one of them

they have a ALA and acetyl-L-Carnitine combo pill with doses of ALA at 200mg and Acetyl-L-Carnitine at 250mg.....

another supp shop has some normal L-Carnitine at 500mg doses but is more than 1/2 price off!!

is the dose of ALA acceptable....ive readon anything from 30mg-200mg (100x2) on doses for effectovness....

and what about the L-Carnitine? i was thinking 2g a day for 3-4 weeks. i know many think its a turkey, but it seems safe so maybe worth a try given the sale.

Also, when should i be taking this....ALA before any carb meals? and L-carnitine before workouts or just at the starts of the day?

im cutting, with a p/c/f of 50/20/30 on cardio days (4 days a week), 40/30/30 on weights days (the remainder)....an i only eat my carbs in the morning. is it worthwhile giving it a shot?

(p.s. i cant do ECA as its illegal and thats not an option)
 
Cant help with the dosage questions, but please keep us posted as to how well your cutting on a 50/20/30 . Thats the ratio I have been playing with lately, adding carbs on your workout day sounds like a good modification.

it seems to be working ok so far, im just paranoid as always im losing muscle, strength so far has been good
 
i think regular ala is crap... If you must i would say 1000mg minimum before meals...

I would go get some r-ala, much better and effective at doses from 100mg-300mg per meal...
 
daneilson u say u think your losing some muscle but strength is good.i thaught muscle maintenace and strength came hand in hand??

ALA is not crap for a couple reasons: First, it's cheap, and second, it's more available to purchase! lol :)

I think you're right though 300-400 mg of ala = 100mg R-Ala

i doubt i lost muh muscle, im always just worried i am when the weight comes down :p
 
i can't find any r-ala.....this normal ala is much more availible. damn supp shops!

any thoughts on the carnitine? figured i might as well give it a shot, it seems if im gonna see any affects it would be soon
 
I've been taking acetyl-L-carnitine for a couple of weeks now. I had a little mixup with the Beyond a Century...I thought I ordered ALA, but got carnitine instead. I decided to give it a try. Haven't noticed anything yet. I won't be ordering more in the future. Just got some more ALA though...it's good stuff!

as faras i can tell the acetyl-L-Carnitine is meant more as a energy boost for your mitochindria so it might raise your BMR i guess, but i think it improves your mental function more

what dose were you on?
