5-HTP vs. L-Tryptophan

My question to you is what cycle are you on? and are you in post-cycle therapy?

Mr.X

I'm in my 10th week of a light cycle (250mg test enathate, 500mg eq) first 3 weeks dbols and 3 last weeks dbols.
It's really just as to not loose too much muscle (which my body has a tendancy of loosing no matter what i do)

If your depression is a problem, have you thought of getting off the cycle? and starting post-cycle therapy

10X Mr.X.. If anything the cycle is the only thing that makes me continue. It's not my first cycle, I know my body pretty well. The worest thing that could happen to me and that would really extremely DEPRESS me is me 'abandoning' like a looser, stopping the cycle and keeping the fact that the 10 weeks I've worked so hard to achieve 8% at the end (I'm now about 12%) in vain. My plan is to loose about 6 fat pounds more so that I would be every lean to start my bulker after a 4 months break. That's the mission and it has to be accomplished.

BTW: What's your thought about DNP? Any personal experience? I have some sitting around for well over a year and half and I never touched it. Since I only need to loose about 6-7 pounds, I'm just wondering if a 200mg a day (NO more) for the duration of one month could help me safely achieve my goal?

I would have to disagree; if a chemical imbalance is the issue, stoping your cycle might help. I really would suggest going to the doctor with this. And, no, DNP is not the way to go.

Hey Mr.X bro,

I just wanted to update on my situation. The L-Tyrosine did the job for me pretty well. It started from day 1 but after 3 days of using it, I feel M.U.C.H. better and I don't seem to have those totally insane, out of this world, extreme, non-controllable carb cravings at night anymore. I've researched Pubmed and found a connection between L-Tyrosine and 5-HTP use, I guess I was depleted of L-Tyrosine.

I now even use less 5-HTP than before yet still feel MUCH better. I'm reminding you, that before, 5-HTP stopped working for me completely after 2 weeks. Now it's working again even at lower dose.

Here's my regimn:

06:00 (Wake up to pee) Empty stomach - Take 2500mg L-Tyrosine with 500mg Vitamin C and B-Complex.

08:00 Wake up, take 200mg of 5-HTP empty stomach

16:00 Take another dose of 2500mg L-Tyrosine with C and B-Complex.

18:00 Take another 200mg of 5-HTP.

I'm also taking 15g a day of Inositol so that could be helping as well. It's fucking amazing, because as you recall, the 5-HTP totally stopped working for me even at 700mg a day. Now I'm on only 400mg a day and I feel it's more than enough.

Now, I may just guessing here, but here's something interesting.. The insane Cravings I was talking about (obviously chemical related) started happening to me 2-3 days after I stopped taking the Liporexin (I was taking Liporexin constantly for a month). Liporexin contains good amounts of Acetyl-L-Tyrosine. Now, it may not be a coinsidance that when I stopped the Liporexin, I started feeling the cravings. I've researched the web for well over a dozen of hours and it seems that the Serotonin alone may not be the problem but also the epinephrine effect(L-Tyrosine/L-Phenylaline->epinephrine). I can now look at a chocolate box and don't have give a damn about it! Radical change for me. I guess everybody's different though. The only 'bad' thing I feel from the large dose of L-Tyrosine and 5-HTP is some lethargy and lake of strength, but that doesn't bother me too much. Just wanted to share my personal experience. 10 Years in the sport and you still never stop learning.. I like it ;)

Good to hear that it worked out for you. In the case of Trex, it might be an issue in the case of going from a stimulant environment to an non-stimulat environment - just as with people that get off the ECA stack and have a problem with eating.

Again, I would suggest getting off a cycly if you're on one, if not then more power to you I'm glad this worked out. :D

L-tyrosine did not do much for me or my clients but a lot of them are natural so there is no innate chemical imbalace related to AS use. There is a slight connection with L-T and 5htp but not to a really high degree - but it is there. I'm glad to see it worked well for you.

Mr.X

is tyrosine the stuff thats in turkey that can make you sleepy? If so can it be used as a sleep aid?

i remember reading on this board that the bean that 5htp is derived from caused heart failure in a tribe of people that ate them regularly...

could just be shitty genetics of the tribe... but i just thought id mention it.

Try to start taking 5g of Acetyl-L-Carnitine/day in on dose. When you wake up.

This will help curb carb cravings by increasing dopamine levels.

Work your way up to 5g 2X/day. Don't take it after 12 noon, or you might get insomnia.

5-HTP can either be converted centrally or peripherally via enzymatic conversion to 5-HT(Serotonin)

Peripheral conversion has shown to induce cardiac damage.
