What's your warmup?

I'm not talking for chest, back, or legs. I'm talking in general - what do you do prior to every weight session to get the blood moving, muscles working, and heart rate up?

Typically I pop a caffeine (+ephedrine when I'm trying to cut) tab 20 minutes prior to leaving for the gym. 5-10 minutes on the tread or seated bike - easy pace. Stretch the whole body 5-10 minutes.

Shoulder rotations, arms straight out and make smaller to larger circles, fwds and backwards
Llight chest stretches
Waist Rotations
Neck Rotations
Grab my knees, shins, ankles, floor
Hip and ham stretch
2 sets of light lat pull downs, 15 reps each
2 sets of light face pulls, 10-15 reps each
1-2 sets of tricep push downs, 8-15 reps each
2 sets of standing pull down abs, 10-50 reps each

Eat.

Seriously. I never stretch BEFORE, or I lose natural reflexes required for lifting heavy. I stretch after.

Spatts, I've heard others against pre-lift stretching for this reason. I always stretch, especially before deads. Could you elaborate on why you feel the way you do. If I'm cheating myself, I'd like to know so I don't waist any more time or sit on my ass wondering why I missed a 1rm. And if anyone else avoids stretching prior to heavy lifts, why? Thanks

I work out first thing in the morning. I have a whey protien shake 1/2 befor the gym. I usually don't stretch befor. a few warm up sets and some stretching in between sets is enough. Although sometimes with legs I'll do 10 minutes on the bike to warm the knees up.

As far as stretching goes...it is very very light and more just to check my ROM for that day...

I make sure that all of my joints feel good...and do several warm ups on my core exercise for that day...

im with spats....... i may do some light stretching only if its hard to do the movement required that day....... but i stretch later and do lots of warm up sets.
