Water retention question

What could be causing me to be bloated? I'm not on a cycle, so it's got to be diet. Example of my daily diet, I'm trying to lean out a bit right now.

Breakfast:
Whet & Cassein shake w/ flax meal and flax oil in H2O
Oatmeal w/ splenda & skim milk
6 egg whites 1 tomato

Snack:
15 Almonds
Whey shake w/ H2O

Lunch:
Chx breast
1/2 c brown rice
Whey shake w/ H2O

Pre w/o:
Whey w/ H2O

Post w/o:
Whey w/ H2O & 1 packet honey

Dinner:
Chx, fish or steak
Veg

Before bed:
Muscle milk w/ flax meal

I don't really use salt much and I drink at least a gallon of water on top of the shakes. i'm getting pissed.

Gassy bloated or water retentive? How long have you been experiencing it?

Not knowing the macro totals or total cals, the one thing I would probably change is the muscle milk as your last meal. I still don't like the sugar & extra cals in that stuff. I might also be suspicious of the many shakes in general that you are using -- maybe try to cut it down to 2 /day & get more real food in there. More vegetables too.

and my comments...

Holy hell... 6 protein shakes ... that could have an effect.

If you don't know you're macros or intake, especially on a cutting/leaning out diet.... fitday that days worth of food and see how it comes out.

Maybe lactose intolerance from all the whey and milk. Sounds like a typical case of lactoce intolerance b/c your diet is pretty clean.
Try using soy powder with soy milk.
Hope this help

Also just for protein shake / digestion in general - ginger root is great - just like the way ginger works w/ sushi -- but you can get it cap form usually at any health food store for pretty cheap. Also if its due to any veggies, Digestive Enzymes (usually just like GNC "Digestive Enzymes") are good as well & also pretty cheap.

It's not really a stomach issue, I've been retaining water. The shakes I have are with lactose free protein and haven't given me any grief. I'll try the enzymes though. Sometimes I do get stomach hurts.

Could it be that I cut my sodium too much?

I would expect it more if you majorly loaded sodium - but unless you do it on a regular basis, it would pass within a few days.
