I'm having to take a dump right after my post-workout protein shake, and right after my bed time protien shake. I'm taking 2 pills of 500mg ginger roots pills to help my digestive system. i dunno what i'm doing wrong. i usually make my shake with 1% fat milk, and an apple, occasionally i put some splenda in there.

how can i get rid of the dumps, i dont wannna be having shakes and be goin down the toliet 10 mins later. Or the shits are just there...and i'm just trippin...

Would you be able to describe what your stools look like? I mean is it loose, hard, soft, watery or cloudyish? Is it easily evacuated? How many times do you take a dump in total per day?

If this has been going on for months then you may have a digestive problem to the protein shake. At this stage you really need to eliminate the possibilites down to what exactly is reponsible, try your protein shake without milk, try without ginger roots. (Ginger roots actually gives me the bloat, on contrary to what it is supposed to do, I get alot of gas from it.)

How do you normally digest apples? I can't eat apples on an empty stomach. You might consider switching the apple for some strawberries.

Could be lactose intolerance, could be the powder itself, could be the amount of fiber you consume per day...fiber absorbs liquid. More liquid = stool formation = runs :) Ginger, indeed, aids digestion. However, you are consuming a protein shake and not digesting a multi-food meal. I wouldn't blame it on the ginger nor would I use it any longer. I'd try eliminating the milk and seeing how the system responds on a non-shake day. Try it...on one of your off days, just consume a crapload of protein-rich foods and skip the powder. However, do one at a time so you'd be able to observe it -lose the milk one day and powder another.

I tried the exact same thing you said. and guess what, i didn't get the shits. I take my shakes w/o milk now, which is a LOT better. I still get the shits immediately after i drink my shake. i never have shakes with other meals, too much load on the body at one time. i always do it post-workout and before bed. the one before bed has no carbs in it.

i'm sort of just living through now, lol. i just walk it off if i can. I do a lot of farts though. oh well...

High intake of protien always get me to shitter more often, milk can also be the cause.....Stellartiggy has a point on the kind of protein that you are taking, that besides the milk could be your problem..........I usually get my stomach bloated and some nasty farts..............LOL
