The 6000 LB Challenge

wow, if you big guys are using 95. I might have to just use the bar...

I have to ask, did you use bumper plates? Cause that would save a few inches and my gym doesn't haved them.

I too am in the middle of a successful 5x5 so I'll have to wait a few months...

Ya, the gym I just joined is f'n great!

They have bumper plates as low as 10lbs and the gym owner just informed me that they now have micro loading plates, 1lb, 1/3lb, 1/2lb and 1/4lb. I no longer have to carry around chains to make small increases.

I think if you are doing the 5 x 5 this would be a great deload for the Wed workout since it includes pulling from the floor and a standing press. So anyone currently doing the 5 x 5 wanting to try this, wait till your progress starts to stall and use this for the Wed deload.

It doesn't seem like a deload to me. It seems like an upload and a week of soreness.

About a year ago I did 55kg (122lbs) for 100 reps of clean and push press.

I did something like 6 sets of 10 with little rest and then started to do 5's & 3's whenever I could catch my breath. That's double the weight (12,000) but it took me about 35-40 mins.

I may try your 6,000 challenge on the weekend.

I'll attempt to use 135 on a Pedlay bar, so that's 44 reps - will try to do 7,7,5,5,5,5,10 - will be tough for me to break 15 mins I'd say.

Post up your time and how you did it, and I hit you with some big K!

Can you make a video? That would be sweet to see.

Decided to go with:

power snatch
99lb on Pendlay bar

Did almost 20 reps in the first 90 seconds.

did 2 sets of 5 in the next 2 mins!

banged out 8 sets of 3 with as little rest as possible

nailed 7 reps straight to make it 61 reps total in 7:50ish (def under 8 mins)

Didn't bother to video it as it's my first attempt.

I think the key was getting a 3rd of the reps done fast and then recovering and setting a good tempo.

I feel like I've been breathing fire right now, and I've coughed up so much water it unbelievable.

SHIT

Just re-read the post and saw a lot of mentioning to "pressing".

Can I have my own little section for overhead anyhow?
