That 1800 calorie bodybuilding diet

Hey bros,
Most nutritionist say a 1800 calorie diet will help for sure to lose weight, how about for bulking? I was checking one of those 1800 calorie diets online and it's very poor in carbs, 5 small meals a day but most of the foods in it are meats and veggies, do you think following this diet would be a wasting of time when bulking is about eating a good quantity of carbs a day?

1800 calories per day is a very low calorie intake for a bodybuilder. Bodybuilders have a lot more muscle then the average person and require higher calories. Bodybuilders also train hard in the gym multiple days per week. That burns additional calories.

I explain how to calculate your calorie, carb, protein and fat requirements for bulking or cutting in this video here -> https://www.evolutionary.org/forums...s/nutrition-101-carbs-proteins-fat-46427.html

A rough estimate to determine how many calories you need is to multiply your body weight (in pounds) by 15. That will give you the amount of calories needed to maintain your current body weight. If your goal is to gain weight, multiply your body weight by 17-18. If your goal is to loose weigh, multiply your body weight by 12-13.
For example, a 200 pound person would need 3000 calories to maintain his weight (200 x 15 = 3000).

Once you have determined your calorie needs. Set your protein intake. A good number to shoot for is:
1-1.5 grams of protein/pound of body weight for natural athletes
1.5-2grams of protein/pound of body weight for enhance athletes

Once you have set your protein intake, fill the rest of your calorie intake with carbohydrates and fat.

Good knowledge it's crazy how many people don't know how to fuel themselves correctly. Even if you're bulking it doesn't give you a pass to eat like crap. Get those calories in by consuming multiple quality meals is how it's done.

Well, if you would lose weight with 1800 calories that means that it is below maintenance. Typically a fat loss diet will be around 500 calories less than you burn each day. With that math your maintenance might be around 2300. That would mean that you would probably want to eat around 2800 to gain. That is just based on a lot of assumptions though but you get the general idea.

1800 calories is how much I was eating to prepare for a bodybuilding competition.

It would be nearly impossible to pack on some muscle on eating so little calories..
