stationary bike or running?

is one better than the other? i sometimes do cardio on the stationary bikes at the gym, but i prefer running because i can do it in the morning before i eat. am i getting the same caloric burning, i ride for 30 min. and run for 15.

i recently switched from the bike to the treadmill; feel it in my quads, calves and glutes; i was wasting my time on the bicycle!!

For losing fat treadmill is definetly better. It burns more calories per unit time then the bike. But if you are like me and have screwed up knees, the bike will be safer cause your weight is supported. I like to use both, maybe 15 minutes on treadmill and 15-20 minutes on bike or elliptical trainer.

Running has always done me more good. Only time I will ever think about using the bike is if I have hurt my knees or something to that nature.

not treadmill!

i am not referring to running on a treadmill. i am talking about running in my neighborhood, which has quite a few hills. so running still the better?

For me it is. Everyone is different but I have always had more results from running. I don't think running alone will do it but I put more af a workout on my body running than I do riding a bike. Its also nice to be outside in the fresh air on a nice cool day. Running the hills is a definate plus. I hate running them but I love the way I feel afterwards.
