Signs of failed Liver? URGENT!

He's afraid of going to a doctor, even though its free (Canada) , he doesn't want him to know what he's been doing...

I told him to just say he's been drinking a lot, and get his liver tested

Don't listen to that poster, they won't let your friend die.

You can tell your doctor anything, it's called patient-doctor confidentiality. He's not allowed to tell anyone and it is better for your doctor to know exactly what he was taking so he can properly treat him. If your liver fails you die, that is it. The doctor should prescribe him medication called Ursodiol.

you have no idea what it is you are talking about.

they will let him die if he destroyed his liver. ive been through it with a friend. have you? how many alcoholics you know get put at the top of the liver transplant list? none because they are a risk. why give a sick person a new liver when there is a good chance theyll destroy that one too.

you tell your doc what you did to go into liver failure and youre fucked. they do every treatment but the transplant.

if you have no clue what youre talking about, dont talk. i was in the hospital watching my boy die. can you say that? i love the doctor/patient confidentiality clueless people try and use as their prime reasoning. there is no such thing. maybe learn alittle bit about how the medical field truly operates before giving out parroted bullshit information. you think a transplant patients medical history isnt dissected? they see he abused drugs and alcohol without medical supervision, they say fuck him, natural selection takes care of the morons. seriously, dont post when you have no experience.

You need to check yourself kid, seriously. This guy doesn't need a liver transplant, he has a minor liver problem that is easily curable with either doctor prescribed Ursodiol or possibly even Milk Thistle. Stop posting in this thread before you get his friend hurt. I'm not gonna argue with you.

Even if this kid did need a liver transplant at some point, it's not like the doctor won't be able to tell if its a birth defect or if he abused a substance. Transplants are no joke and they figure this crap out way before they even think about putting you on the list. Do you think you can just walk into a doctor's office and say "my liver is failing because I was born with a birth defect that somehow nobody knew about and I need a liver, okay? Thanks bye."

Everything you said in that post makes absolutley not sense and is false. No such thing as doctor-patient confidentiality? What? Do you pull these things out of a hat? I'm not even going to get into the other things you said because it's just not worth it. Have I had a boy die? Don't tell me your personal problems because I'm not telling you mine. You don't know me, and I don't know you. Let's keep it that way.

sorry youre not talking to a kid here and your response is a joke. who said anything about a birth defect? again, ive lived through this situation with a friend and its obvious you havent. go troll other posts. this posters friend isnt in a minor infection zone, hes fucked up. the more toxins that build, the sicker he gets. and seriously, tylenol causing liver failure has been proven over and over, sound advice from someone who has experienced this. yours? makes little to no sense. milk thistle? hows his liver supposed to metabolize it when its not functioning properly?

You can't stress your liver and detox it at the same time. You can do one or the other.

You can't just walk into a doctor's office, say you need a liver transplant because you took tyenol and have everything be okay. I seriously don't understand where you get this stuff from. I'm not trying to argue with you here, but do you honestly believe what you are saying?

His friend has cholestasis. This is very common with 17aa oral steroid users. If he stays like this for a long period of time, yes, it can turn worse. If he sees a doctor soon, he will prescribe him Ursodiol.

Ursodiol is a naturally occuring bile acid which is used for its ability to detoxify the liver by clearing out less hydrophilic bile acids and other toxins that cause a toxic buildup, such as 17aa steroids.

To the OP: He must go to the doctor immediately. It can be cured easily and quickly if he just goes and tells his doctor what is going on. I'm sure this is not the first time he has cured someone's oral steroid abuse.

He needs bloodwork to see how bad we're talking about before anyone can give meaningful advice. Sounds like he won't do it so he's on his own.

1 - he goes to an e.r.
2 - when asked what situation he is in, he describes symptoms and the cold/illness hes had for the last 2 or 3 weeks
3 - when asked what medications hes been taking, he lists tylenol as well as a plethora of other otc drugs and vitamin c
4 - they run tests to see severity of damage
5 - if necessary, he is put on a donor list (if he describes that he has used aas and alcohol to get to that point, he doesnt get on the list)

that isnt hard to understand is it? since this is the personal experience ive been through with a friend and have seen it work out, id say my advice isnt far fetched. and please stop stating hypotheticals that i havent even remarked about.

my best girlfriend had her liver fail on her because of taking tons of pills and drinking and got a liver transplant right away so they wont let him die for drug abuse

well she passed out and was in a coma etc. then they put her on a list and it took a couple weeks but finally a girl her age died in a car accident so she got that girls liver............the doctors knew she was abusing pills and drinking .....we all knew and they still took care of her....i dont know how Canada is but this was at the UCLA harbor medical center in LA
