Hey guys, I am a new member to the site and was looking to get some advice on my diet. I am not new to weight lifting however i have not taken it serious enough, usually 6 months harcore training then 1 year of drinking and eating junk with out exercise. weight is always up and down. I never had a good diet even while working out, i either starved myself of over indulged. Now im trying to adopt good eating habits but wanted some comments on what im doing right and what im doing wrong.

Stats:
26 years old
215lbs 5'10
24% BF

What i been eating everyday for the last 2 weeks because i cant cook:

4x a day 4-6 oz of chicken
2x a day slice of whole grain bread
1-2 bags of planters salted peanuts, vending machine size
multi-vitamin
water

I believe this is around 1500-1800 40/40/20 (protein, fats, carbs)

weight is being shed since start 3 weeks ago of working out, start 230lb, now 215.

training :
morning: 45 min HIIT
and 30 min to 45 min free weights, 3 day split
evening: 45 HIIT or brisk walk

Thanks guys, ill check back in see if there is any advice

If that is really around 1500 to 1800 cals I would want to bring that up a little. Try fitday.com to count your intake. i would add vegies to your meals with your chicken and drop the bread and drop the salted peanuts for un salted. From what I have read if your calorie intake is too low then your body goes into a starvation type mode and wants to hang onto fat. Also a link here to a very usefull post by radar. http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/a...-build-muscle-loose-fat-then-read-712503.html

Ok, I read the link and I think I know what I should add to my daily food. Spinach and and broccoli, not so sure about fruits. . . things i have to cook also a no go for me since i am a full time student and am employed full time which is why variety is also tough for me. I usually sacrifice an hour of sleep to prepare food for 3 days. I usually only get about 5 hours of sleep during the week and catch up on weekends. Which brings me to the part about the whole grain bread. . . I assumed enriched white bread was bad but whole grain was good. Again this is a lot quicker to grab then to chop up vegetables in the morning. Aside from that im going to up the calories a bit, switch to unsalted peanuts and see my results at the end of the week.

This should have been in the first post but my goal is to strip fat, increase or maintain lean muscle to build a base for the fall bulking period.

Thanks for advice and the link Raze
