Need some guidance with eating.

I just recently started walking on my treadmill again and lifting. I need to lose some body fat and around 7 lbs.
My problem is I never know what to eat and when.
I have been trying to eat very low carb,(no bread, fruit, etc.) Of course I cheat occasionally but for the most part I'm eating meat and veggies.
I workout sometimes in the am and sometimes at night after the kids go to bed. I am usually really hungry after I w/o in the pm. And tend to go with a protein shake for lack of knowledge what else I can have.
My w/o is as follows : 2 miles on treadmill at about 5% incline at a brisk walking pace but not jogging. Sometimes I level it out if I get winded though.
Then I'll do some lifting w/dumbells, I generally just workout to a cathe fredrich video. One day I'll do upper, next lower body.
It just depends on my schedule, but sometimes I'll do the weights and cardio seperately one am and one pm.
Thanks!! ;)

Hi cher -

I'd suggest to get you oriented, can you post up exactly what you eat (meals, times, portions) and your training schedule. Also your stats - height, weight, bodyfat if you know it. And finally take a look at both the "Shadow's Project" and the "Project SUmmary" stickies at the top of the board. This will give you an idea of how to start, set up your meals, etc.

It certainly differs day to day. I will write down everything in the next day or so and post it.
Bodyfat; I have no clue...but plenty i'm sure. I am not training for anything...just wanting to look waaay better.
I'm currently according to my scales 108 lbs at 5 ft. tall. I have a small bone structure, so every pound looks like 3. :worried:
I want to make sure I do things right as far as eating times and should it be fats and proteins or just carb or carb and protein. I know nuthin about that kind of stuff. I want to have results before summer...it'll be here b4 you know it! My problem area is belly fat. But I could definitley lose inches in hips, thighs and arms also.
Thanks for your reply and I will do my part as soon as I possibly can...don't forget me pleez!!!

Well to start - don't worry about "spot reducing" because it doesn't exist. If you follow an optimized diet & add some resistance training to build muscle, throw in a little cardio, the fat will just come off :)

I am so stinkin' hungry right now, I did 2 mi on the mill tonight. Part of it running.
I had a protein shake, w/ about 1/4 c. 1% cott cheese mixed in. Should I go to bed hungry??
