So there I am infront of the dumbells doing shoulder presses. Im standing with 60's struggling at 6. I decide to sit down on the vertical bench and do presses on there. Well jesus, I threw 60's around like they were rag dolls. I upped it to 70's and they were manageable aswell.

So the million dollar question being. Whats more effective. Id say that for pure shoulder development, seated presses are more effective since they allow you to press more weight.

then on the other hand I realize that even though i may stimulate my shoulders less while standing, im probably getting a better stimulus in my whole body becasue of the need to stablize the weight.

Lets hear some input

are you using the same ROM? I've noticed guys in my gym using a shorter ROM when seated vs standing, would account for the difference in strength.

so you say standing presses. why
Explain.
I see the benefits of standing presses. i also see the benefits of seated presses.

Yeah like blut said you cannot get any leg drive therefore you have to use less weight. Trying doing BTN push presses with a barbell of course. This exercise will allow you to use the most weight possible. BTN push press helped my shoulders grow the most out of any of the exercises.

It's hellish hard to get leg-drive when seated.

Ok, i follow. Should you however strive for leg-drive if you working out shoulders?
I totally believe in the larger benefit of full-body workout, such as standing..
However, I always feel like if people are doing arnold presses of sometimes even clean and presses if they push off with their legs they are cheating the motion and not working their shoulders as much. So does this then allow them to go for more reps (what about those wanting to get stronger), or should you just go with the natural flow of your body and get used to the full-body movement?
Am I making sense?..

When we talk about leg drive its not a huge leg drive. Just enough so that you can put heavier weight on. When doing BTN PP you just dip do a little put nothing crazy. Just that little bit of drive allows you to press heavier weight therefore leading to you getting stronger.
