Had my first post-Thanksgiving workout yesterday and was definitely a little sluggish compared to the workout from the day before the holiday. I was also feeling the initial symptoms of a cold (every time I travel home with my son I get sick - I swear he is a carrier monkey).
I am not sure whether it is the aas, the bloat/water retention from the holiday eating, the onset of being sick or some combination of the above, bit I had my first experience of "the pumps." I ran to warmup and about two miles in could feel my legs getting amped up like I had been squatting rather than running. The effect was then just as evident during my back and bicep workout. It wasnt painful and didnt impair my workout, but different from what I am used to. Still had a killer workout and my strength and stamina are continuing to increase.
With the cold now hitting me full on and my flight back home tomorrow, I will take the weekend off from lifting and cardio to allow my body the time to fight this off and try to get healthy to start the week. It is going to be tough to force myself to take it easy though. Normally I am a zombie when sick and want nothing but my bed and the TV remote. This morning I am still full of energy and want to do something even though I know I need to rest.
