Is a hot tub after lifting good for you?

In football in training camp the trainers used to set up garbage pails full of ice water in the showers. It felt cold as hell yet good as hell to get in there up to the waist. Of course my little fellas weren't too happy but conditions merited it.

I even set up a garbage pail with ice in it in my shower a few months ago when I started squatting heavy again. Man it felt good.

MMMMMM ICE <in Homer's voice>

I say the hot tub bath is good and all just make sure that you drink a protein shake before hand. (like right after you get done lifting.)

Sitting in the tub while missing the golden hour after a workout is not good. If you don't know what I am talking about then....the hot tub will probably just fine for you ;)

I carry a cooler with me and drink a protein shake as soon as I get done lifting. :D

If by golden hour you mean that natural high, endorphin buzz, then I agree with you bro!

I thought he was talking about the 20-60 minutes following a workout that your muscles are most receptive to gylcogen and nutrient refueling.

You got it frorider6!

That is what I was talking about really....you gotta get the protien in carbs in there.

I sit in a steam room when I am done....I do a little stretching in there there and it feels great! I hit a cold shower after that and feel life a million bucks.

Keep in mind that when you are on gear, sitting in a hot steam room or pool and really bump up your BP which is probably a little high to begin with.

well ice or cold slows blood flow.

So heat should let blood flow to the muscles easier. Bro if you want to take a hot bath I say do it. Not only that but there is research that says a hot bath or shower before you go to bed makes you have a deeper sleep so I would go for it.
