I'm Kinda Afraid To Stay On CKD...

i'm getting really worried the more I read about the negative effects of ckd diets. i've heard they are unhealthy, result in a rebound when the diet is finished, and can even fuck up my insulin and fat storage, reapportioning my fat in fucked up ways. and its also making me feel like shit and lethargic, even with 4 tablespoons of good flax oil per day. i really wanted to drop about 7 pounds of fat, but now i'm thinking ckd isn't the way to go...

i definetly think the diet is geared more towards people who just want to lose weight fast and really arent concerned with muscle loss, if you have patience and are not in a hurry, high protein, moderate good clean carbs, and low good fats like flax is definetly the best diet for a body builder. I started a ckd diet and im scared to stay on it too, im gonna tough it out for a month because i gained alot of fat this winter, but after that im going back to a less intense diet. you just started it, give it a chance for a couple weeks and see how things go, if you feel its doing more harm than good , come off it.

Actually, CKD is one of the most muscle sparing cutting diets

Matto,
To avoid feeling tired and lethargic while on CKD, you might want to take in most, if not all, of your fat from sources like flax, UDO's, nuts, etc... They will really fuel you better than cheese and whatever other fats you might be eating.

I am sure if you ate like shit before you started CKD, you will return to eating like shit after, then it is true that you will rebound, this is also true of any diet.
Hopefully, you took the time to inform yourself on proper nutrition and worked out a good diet before you even thought about starting a CKD.

As far as the insulin thing goes, I don't know but would like to find out.

Where are you reading about these CKD dangers?

All the crap you have been reading is bullshit! They are not at all unhealthy if done properly!

sorearms is right, if you go back to your normal way of eating, then it will rebound. You need to change your lifestyle instead of a temporary diet. LOL I sound like Dr. Phil.

It's going to take your body a few weeks to adapt to using fat as fuel then you'll feel fine.

As for heatlhy or unhealthy? The study Macro posted a few months ago about the negative effects keto diets had worried me but I think alot of the negative hype surrounding them are over-rated.

Ketones are muscle sparing, and CKD's work well for a lot of people. Sometimes though, they aren't the best for some bb'ers. Take Needsize, for example. He has stated that he loses too much mass on ckd type diets, even on juice. So it works for some people and not for others. I'll use a moderate length one if bulking gets out of hand, then transistion into a diets that's just cleaner.

As for rebound. If you add your carbs back correctly, the only thing that comes back is water. And that's not much. Start with only green veggies @ one or two meals the first week. Then maybe add a serving (that's 1 serving!) of oatmeal in the morning. Then maybe add a sweet potatoe or brown rice at a meal in another week.
It's about like adding in a serving (20-25g or so) a week. If you do that, you should be fine.

Be patient, the diet works when done right, but like all diets, it's not always pleasant.
If you find the diets not for you, try a different one. Not everyone has to cut with the same diet.
Best of luck.
