How many grams of carbs post workout?

What's the ideal amount of carbs that should be present in my post workout shake? I know it should be about 30 g of protein and I can get that using 2 scoops of powder, however the particular powder I'm using, 2 scoops is only 4 carbs? Is this enough? Can anyone recommend a post workout whey protein?
I'm currently using Next Designer Whey.

I have the same protein powder......2 scoops & a cup of skim milk (milk for carbs)

yep...skim milk......especially if you are cutting....

you could add some fruit if you feel you need it

Correct me if I'm wrong (Shadow and others)... But I have always thought that post workout shake should have a good amount of non-complex carbs. It's like the one time to have sugary stuff. Reason being, post-workout protein needs to be broken down quickly to get to the muscles. Simple sugars aid quick digestion. Best stuff is maltodextrin and/or dextrose, found in honey and brown sugar. And in this case, malto and dext work better than other sugars like glucose (white sugars) or fructose (fruits).

yes....malto is best

however...you will get an insulin spike from the simple milk sugar.

a spike is a spike.....higher might be best for muscle gain....but I have never noticed a difference between milk and malto in terms of recovery or size...

the sugar has nothing to do with breaking down the protein as Whey is already "pre-digested"...the sugar pops insulin levels(blood sugar) levels...its the same le principlal as shooting insulin...which isnt a bright idea.

so.....is malto "best" for gaining size - probably.....is it necessary - No......bbers gained and recovered for years before malto was around

Do you have to have carbs in a post workout shake if it's bedtime afterwards?
I usually have a whey shake made w/ h20,1/4 cott cheese and 1 strawberry, 1 pk splenda. The whey powder has 5 g carb, 20 g protein.
I am trying to lose bf and gain some muscle. Mostly just slim down though.
Thanks!
