I HAVE BEEN STUDYING FOR FOR A FEW WEEKS. AND IT IS PRETTY TUFF WHAT DO I REALLY NEED TO FOCUS ON. HOW MUCH OF IT INVOLVES THE NERVES, MUSCLES, SKELETON, ETC. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE AWSOME....I DON'T HAVE MUCH OF A BIOLOGY BACK GROUND..

ACE = EASY ! ! i just took it in Sept, what study materials do you have? do you have any sample tests? do you have access to their sight? when is your test? I'll help ya with what you need. it really wasnt that tough. i studied...oh... maybe 2 weeks...

but I've been a personal trainer for 9 years!

Bump on this I'm also currently studying to, I got the personal trainers manual from them and the sample test. How much is the test and how hard was it, I'v been lazy and haven't studied for a long time though...shoot me an email about this to [email protected] hahaha I know aol sucks:D

if I remember correctly, the test cost around $150 to take (8yrs ago) and is 175 questions within 3hrs. the sample test is fairly indicitive of the test. As far as it being easy, that depends on your individual knowledge, as with any test better to be completly prepared and have it be easy, than to think its easy, not study enough and flunk. there is also a company called Exercise etc who does study courses. Good luck.

So Easy...

I took the ACE exam a while back and would say it is quite easy. You just regurgitate the information in the manual.

I passed the test on two days studying from the book...the one tip someone gave me proved priceless:

"Whatever you do, do not go with what you would do or choose in the situation....choose the most conservative and least legally liable option." This will give you the correct answer on the majority of the questions.

For example: "what is the depth at which I should have my clients squat to."

A) to the floor...hamstrings should touch calves (what I would do)

B) when thighs are parallel to floor (legal powerlifting squat...again another good option).

C) never let client's knee joint close to less than a 90 degree angle (the picture in the book shows one of those bullshit 1/3 squats).

the correct answer is C. Pretty much go for the most pussy answer in every case. In the dealing with clients section always take the most non-commitant stance. i.e, "client comes in complaining of personal problems...should you offer advice?" correct answer: "no, you are not a certified mental health practitioner."

also remember the different muscles in the rotator cuff and that fat has 9 calories per gram while protein and carbs has 4.

Huge has a point

the biggest portion of the test is on professional responsibility.
when questions like that pop up. you dont answer what you would do, you think. "what would the biggest dork trainer I've seen say to that" lol never commit. it's kinda funny! but true
You cant go wrong with this answer "refer to a medical professional"!

Hugh Gellatts is right on the money. Always go with the most conservative, safest answer rather than what you would actually do or recommend.

Agree with the others too -- as long as you read over the manual and study questions, take the sample test (and do OK), and don't get lost on the way to the exam site (like i did) you should be fine. Its really not that difficult.

Where to take the test?

Where do you take the test? How do you get hold of a manual?

Thanks!
