"Ghede goes for 6%"... the journal, May 1 2006

Seated shrugs are great....I love the "pull" you can get on the downside. I feel I don't cheat as much when doing seated shrugs either. I "resist" the pull I spoke of on the upstroke. This applies constant tension to the traps.

no way... wow... i tyed a little schpeel about the cool dead bar you speak of but deleted it, upon furthur review, lol.

I've seen them, but never tried it either ... only seen theses contraptions on paper otherwise i woulda laced up my wrastlin' boots to be the "shrug faced" :)

Ouuu very cool sock trick! ... add that to my arsenel of tricks, thankyouverymuch :coffee:

sarge: oh, the sock thing is definitely NOT my doing, strongest woman i know taught me that, among other invaluable things. Thank god every day for woman, for without them, we are just a bunch of guys, seen?

'Woman's spirit is like a serpent whose bodiy is always in contact with the solid, the grounding of earth and the realness of its heart. Men are mostly hard headed passions of the air. One without the other is like an axe and a grindstone that never meet.'

:verygood:

Lifter: i do shrugs mostly standing on the seated/standing shrug machine, but will give them a serious blast next time around seated. I have gravitated toward doing shrugs with my chin down, as per a suggestion from a former Mr. Asia i train with now and again (last night, for instance), and that small change has DRASTICLY improved my traps. Will snap a quick pic of them next time around for emphasis... ;)

AMEN to powerful women :rose:

lol how IS that head doin'? :)

ug... migraine mostly gone.. i hope, but the damn meds have me just this side of comatose and shakin' like a leaf... not training sucks, to put put it mildly

EDIT: yah, well.... ran into a couple a friends about to do shoulders... my former Mr.Asia buddy and a guy i work with that train together all the time, crazy ass hard as nails duo, no messin around.... well.... i have new training partners! Love it.

Shoulders From Hell:

Pre-exhaust with the Hammer Lateral Raise machine...

Military DBs: 4 sets of 12, 50s, 70s, 75s, 80s
Lateral Raises: 4 sets of 12, 25s, 35s, 45s, 45s
Front raises: 4 sets of 12, 25s, 35s, 45s, 50s (only got 8 of those, holy crap!)
Smith Machine, Behind the back shrugs ala Matt Duval: 4 sets of 12, 2plates, 4plates, 5plates, 6plates
Standing Seated Shrugs: 4 plates/side, 5 plates/side, 6 plates/side

Ok. that'll do. Training with these guys is an affirmation of so many things. A persian, an arab and an Irish Jew kicking ass and sharing an understanding of both life and of a lifestyle that brings so many loose ends into perspective. Its not about weight, or size, its about commitment to helping each other push past those places we had only glimpsed from afar. It matters. All of it. Its really about respect. I love being able to share and feel so damn honored that what I have to share is worth accepting.

Cheers to the difficult, to the hard, the painful, to the formerly impossible.

ahhh... the joy of it.

Oh, Buns: the chlorophyl is to combat a bunch of internal nasties, not the least of which is putrifaction of all the damn meat i eat, i also do probiotics daily, not sure why those arent listed, but will get them up for sure... secondary to all that, it keeps me smellin' purty, like internal deodorant that keeps my sometimes savage stress and diet and training from transmitting it self via certain olfactory unpleasantries, that is to say my sweat is sweet. sorry, i know that might be TMI but its the clearest definition i could dig up.

:D

I am in total agreement with your friend Mr. Asia. This is exactly right, and combine this with doing them seated, and you are in for a real "thrill". :)

Pushing the limits that try to define us...

I also go w/ the chlorphyl & also probiotics. These days I'm all about all the anti-ox's and "clean out" stuff.
