Does the Body For Life type of diet work???

hey wats up bros. ive been lookin into doin the type of diet that is featured in the body for life book. This diet tells u to eat six meals during the day hat include 1 portion of protein, one portion of carbs and one tablespoon of monosaturated fat. Does anyone know if this diet is better that the ckd type of diets....or has anyone had any experiences or good results with this type of diet???

Yes, the BFL program is effective just like 90% of the diets out there. Is it the best? I am not getting into this debate, but I do feel that if you are really obese or just starting out dieting from a long break (of not dieting), then it is one that I highly suggest. The hardest part of dieting is getting the dieter to stick to the actual diet. The reason this diet excels so good is that it is very, very simple. However, as bodyfat lowers, so will the rate of fat loss (which will happen on every diet anyhow). At that time, the dieter may need to be more precise with their calorie intakes and nutrient profiles/percentages. The bottom line to any fat loss program is to make sure that you are not eating more than your body uses. Also, the exercise program that BUTTPLUG uses really compliments this diet well. The 2 simply work synergistic with each other.

To ask whether or not it is "better" than a CKD diet in terms of the rate of fat loss is a touchy subject. If one can get away with a less strenuous diet than that of a CKD to reach their goal, there is no need for a CKD. To say that a CKD is the only diet that is effective at fat loss is ridiculous (although it is one of my favorites so don't take me wrong here). Many people can reach their goals without using a CKD. HOWEVER, when bodyfat percentages get into single digits, and stubborn fat is the last bit to go, then I can honostly say (with confidence) that a CKD is UNMATCHED in this regard.

The way I view the BFL program, it's more of a motivational program than a weight loss diet. It's encouraging you to eat 5-6 healthy meals per day, and to exercise with weights for 3-4 days per week, with some cardio on 2-3 of your non weight training days, and to have one "cheat day" where you can have some different types of food that you used to eat. There is nothing complicated about that, except for getting in the routine of doing it, and not stopping. It's more common sense than anything, plus a promotional tool for EAS.

The reason I call this a weight loss program, and not a weight loss diet, is simply because this is a life time program, intended to help get you healthy, and too hopefully make you stay there. I think it's great that so many people have taken to it, because it will do wonders for you. I find myself reading the book sometimes, or the magazine Muscle Media whenever I need a little motivation. Sometimes pictures and general health articles from other mags just don't do the same for your mind as an article will do.

When I think of a weight loss diet, I think of something like CKD, Keto etc... These are diets that the general public wouldn't know about if there was no one talking about them. I feel they're meant to take some weight off you, and for you to then go back to maintaining a regular diet, like the BFL program promotes.

I feel as though I'm starting to ramble, so I'll summarize here, end it here, and go back to watching Saved By The Bell. :) Follow Body For Life for a while, to get used to eating clean and exercising, after you loose an initial amount of fat, your fat loss will eventually slow down. If you feel as though you've hit a plateau, try a special diet (Keto etc...) to drop some more fat, then go back to BFL and continue eating healthy, until you hit another plateau.

I think it is not a good idea to label diets. But, CKD (ketosis) is considered one of the best and most effective diets out there; at the same time, the body-for-life "program" (as state by humanshell) is surely not a diet, it is more of a lifetime health cure for people that are not planning to stay in Ketosis their whole life's. Now, is it as effecient as CKD? Yes, but only at first, later on the diet slows down and eventually "carb-up" days will have to be incorporated to refill leptin levels, and resume suffecient fat-loss.

I think any diet can work for you if a calorie deficit is present, but not every diet can stick with you a lifetime as a feasible health program. So, in turn, the body-for-life is a very good idea for overall health, I give it two-thumbs up.

I kind of liked the b4L program, but it is better if you can find someone to do it with you, or a local support group for body for life, you would be surprised, but they are out there!

You asked if it was "better". well, it depends on your goals AND where you are at now, and how long you have been training, ect.

Better, is only an opinion, and each person will have one, especially about BFL only because its so popular.

I LOVE the BFL eating plan. It has worked great for me. But in a couple of months, I will most likely do a more dramatic diet for the last couple of pounds. Then go back to the BFL diet.:)

I think Mr. X is right on with this one. The BFL diet may not be the fastest way for everyone to lose, but it's an effective diet for most people.. Depending on your level of activity, it may not be enough calories. It is very much a diet intended to help people get into shape, initially if they are just getting started, and then to maintain a healthy weight once they are satisfied. Since most bodybuilders are never satisfied, it's not going to fit for them. It's not extreme enought to keep the lbs coming off for an extended time either. Your body adapts and the losses will begin to slow. If you're just starting in lifting, it's a great jumping in point I think. You'll feel good, and it will teach to watch the foods you eat and be concious of everything you eat. Eventually, though if you want to keep dropping weight, or if you want to add muscle, another type of diet is going to be needed. On the positive side though, it's a diet that lays the frame work for eating habits you can follow for the rest of your life and be healthy and lean. Most of the diets here that will help you lose faster can't say that. My 2 cents.

Any type of healthy nutritional program will work

high fat/low carbs/mod protein

low carbs/high prot/low fat

low fat/high carbs/mod protein

Sticking to them is tha KEY.

Tha thing is...WE...want tha most Effective...efficacy is tha key here.

So thus, we go tha Hardcore route., but sometimes Hardcore routes end up in faliure because we are not consistent,..but then you can ask yourself : "why tha fuck are you not consistent!?" ,...but that all goes back to your original goal.... WHY THA FUCK ARE YOU DOING THIS TO BEGIN WITH~!? ... FIND tha reason, and you'll find a way to reach your goal...with any type of diet you choose.

Peace
