Do you keep a training journal?

I keep a journal and write everything i put in my mouth down..every day...what supplements i take...what bodyparts I train and how much cardio..water etc. I do not put what exact exercises I did in the gym or how much weight I lfited...just the basic stuff so I can go back and see what I am doing and if it is working or if I need to make changes.

RE:

Yes Yes Yes!!!!

Training journals are a fantastic way to 'track your progress' they help you set goals and achive them faster than if you just rock up at the gym and say ok ill do this today.

Its a bit anyoying at times but i still keep one :)

Try it for yourself

i keep a journal on an excel spreadsheet which tracks my diet and routine. it's really quite impressive.... if you're into anal tracking like me :D

i have a tab with the breakdowns of all the foods i eat. all the carb/protein/fat columns auto calculate to the quantity column, so if i ate more or less i just adjust the quantity. then i have a daily planner/menu tab for each day of the week and i copy the rows over to those pages. each menu page auto calculates my totals for calories/carbs/protein/fat. right next to my daily totals i have my goals for cals/carbs/protein/fat so i can see exactly where i'm at for the day. i also write down my routine or any notes i feel like adding on the pages. it's kind of like i created my own personal fitday in one file... can you tell i work with computers? jeesh, i'm anal... i need to stop hanging out with engineers :)

i use to use it religiously when i was getting into the habits, and needed to get an idea of what i needed to eat. but now i mostly just use it to plan what i'm going to do for diet and routine.

OH I almost forgot!!!!!!

Try this program out...

You can track your training, aerobic and nutritional progress with this amazing little PC or Palm program,

THE CROSS TRAINER 111

its realy something, they have a demo version available on the web and the manufactures' name (i think) is Innovative logic

Let me know what you think of it :)

After writing up my planned workout, I felt like I had to go, because I hated the thought of leaving any blanks on the page (OCD tendencies being put to good use).

.

this is meeeeeeeeeeee!!! :)

I never record what I eat, I know what my portions are.

I always record what exercises I do and what weights I do and what cardio I do. I just like to see the bump in progress there.

I have a very small booklet, so everything's a bit cramped, but I log every single rep, set, weight, etc. I write up the workout beforehand, then fill in the numbers during rests between sets. I try to do more weight, or more reps in every workout, so I refer back a lot. I plan workout mesocycles every 6 weeks, and write them up in the back of the book, then adjust ex's. or order according to how things feel in the first week or so of the mesocycle.

My diet is all planned in advance - I never eat anything that's not been calculated beforehand - I have a few different daily meal-plans that all have the same macronutrient content, so I get variety, but always know exactly what's what's going into me, so I never have to write it down.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who's so anal about this! :)

very nice!! :)

I always keep a training log.
I write down my workout before hand, so I know exactly
what my routine is going to be. I may have to change it around a little depending on how crowded it is, but it helps.

I can go back and look at my progress based on my old journals.
I think they are a great help.:)
