deads

after a lot of thinking about it and 6 years of training, i finally decided to start doing deads! i've done them one or two times before but couldn't get the hang of 'em, but i think i've got the form down now. started with 5x5 for about 190 pounds, weak yeah i know, but i guess i'm on the road to manhood now, right? wooHOO! really felt it in my hams, not as much in my back as i hoped but oh well, we'll see how sore i am tomorrow morning eh?! just thought i'd share

Congrats!! Don't worry your poundages will increase tremendously through time. It is better to get the technique down rather that jumping right into it with heavy weight and sloppy form. Keep up the good work!

Don't worry bro- you'll see your strength go up steadily if you keep good form. You'll also be surprised at the effect they'll have on your whole physique. You'll get a thicker look too. Deads are the best IMO.

DEADS! Anybody who isn't doing them is really missing out, I waisted years not doing them.

Way to go bro, they are my crack rock of movements.

i just started weight training, and doing deads a month ago.. started at 230 deads.. not to shabby for someone that has never trained in their life.. i guess this is a good thing for me.. i beleive im genetic (got alot of fat surounding still.. but its shaping up :p

Exactly, it's great to see that your doing deads, and doing them 5x5 will definitely increase your size and strength. How much weight is on the bar isnt that important, it's all about progressive resistance, so as long as you keep adding small amounts of weight, the total amount on the bar isn;t that important

i sadly don't do deadlifts and i know i really should... i actually thrive to start doing them soon but i am only 17 y/o and 5'7 (yeah im short) and i am hoping for a growth spurt soon... i am worried i will hurt my back somehow doing deads.

Everything else is growing like a weed though.

hey pal don't worry, i'm only 2 years older than you and have a serious back problem, i believe if you put enough effort into it and get your form down, it shouldn't be a problem
