cutting diet but lifting heavy?

Im going to start on a diet designed to help get you more ripped. My arms and chest are decently ripped already, but i want a six pack. Can i use this diet and at the same time lift heavy to add bulk to arms, chest, legs etc.? And If i do it this way, will i still be able to get a six pack i want if i work my abs often? I want to cut the hell outta my stomach while at the same time keep adding solid mass to my upper body.. I just feel like when i try to get solid mass upstairs and cut my stomach at the same time, one is just basically cancelling the other out. Can someone explain this to me? Also i run almost everyday..

Here's the problem.... The gain mass, whether it be fat or muscle, you must be in a calorie surplus each day (above your caloric maintenance). In order to lose weight, whether it be fat or muscle you must be in a calorie deficient (lower than your caloric maintenance). Since you can not obviously be in a surplus and a defecient at the same time, you have to pick one or the other and work in cycles.

With that said, to your questions... Can you use the diet and at the same time lift heavy to add bulk to my arms, chest, legs? While using the diet, you will not add bulk to your body parts for reasons described above, but it is essential to your goals that you keep lifting heavy. While dieting when you lift heavy, your body will try to hang on to the muscle that you have, rather than getting rid of both fat and muscle you will maintain much more muscle than you would if you were not lifting heavy.

Will I still be able to get a six pack if I work my abs often? Your thinking is a little off on this one, right now as we type back and forth, you have a six pack... however, it's under a slab of fat, making it not seen. Diet will get rid of the fat, if you're lifting heavy with big compound exercises your core and abs are being worked very hard, and minimal ab work is necessary. Diet, and they will be there assuming your diet takes you low enough.

GL to ya bro, let us know of any more questions...

Good advice from zgzaz. To add onto that, try getting an account at fitday.com and keep track of what you eat so you can see what needs to be improved. Getting "ripped" is all about diet in my opinion.
