Comming back from pinched nerve injury

triggerfinger

New member
Have not been lifting since July. I was near the end of a cutting cycle when I injured myself and after Physical Therapy and Nerve injects I am ready to get back in the gym.

My body is shot. I lost alot of weight and alot of muscle.

I have started off real slow. I plan to get into the gym 2x a week
2 sets per body part
1.) Chest,Back,Bis,Tris
2.) Squats, Abs

I was in the gym Tuesday and am still very sore. I want to go on a one+ cycle.

How long should I wait? I am thinking about 2 weks on my current plan and then going to a 3 day split. 2 weeks on the 3day split and then starting a 4 week cycle.

I am very anxious to get back into the shape I was in before the injury. ie. I was benching 315 before the injury and Tuesday 135 felt heavy. So between looking in the mirror , The loose T-shirts and the lost strength I am somewhat depressed

Does anyone have any reccomendation or thought on post injury training

Just realize that injury is not the end. Take a look at Citruscide's post a little while ago. He injured his shoulder a while back and is now hitting up personal bests at weight higher than he ever could pre-injury. Healing will happen with time if you believe in it. You just have to be careful.

Right now, its just a matter of dedication and confidence. If you think you can get back into it, you can, and if you think you cant, you cant.

Is "Muscle Memory" a myth

Does muscle have memory. If so I just be able to get back to where I was pretty quickly.

What are thoughts on the correct time to start a cycle

As far as I know, muscle memory is the real deal...
I know, when I was personally going through hard times with my body(shoulder injuries, knee injuries), and I shrunk a good amount, I was able to gain everything back within a good 2 months and have been contantly packin the beef on solid since then...
Muscle Memory is defintely real in my opinion
