Captain of Crush Grippers?

IronLion said:
Crushing strength is the wrong kind of grip strength for deadlifting and olympic lifts. Think about it you are basically 4 against 1, in other words you have the strength of 4 fingers against your thumb. If you plan on increasing holding strength then you must start with the weak link. If this interests anyone I can post more on the subject if not I'll save some typing

I would be interested in hearing more. I have recently been contemplating this very subject.

My "holding" strength is very good. No problems at all deadlifting or shrugs, etc..But my "crushing" strength seems relatively weak.

Please post your thoughts, IL.

I would also like to hear more on this lion.

I did just order number 1 crusher. I want crushing strength so when I go to an interview I can crush whoevers hand during the handshake! :FRlol: :FRlol:

OK I will post a full thread on this when I get a chance b/c it has made a difference in my gripping abilities:

The kind of strength that carries over best is pinching strength to work this start with two 10 pound plates and hold them between your thumb and index fingers. Do this until failure and when you can hold it for 30 seconds +move up in weight. There are a couple of things you can do with a kettle bell as well.

Another aspect that will improve your grip strength right away is to grip everything you lift as tight as you can throughout the lift. When you do speed deadlifts, drop down and grap the bar as hard as you can and as FAST as you can, then pull FAST.

The same goes for olympic pulls. Drop and pull as fast as you can for a few sets at the end of each workout.

The goal is to make the thumb to fingers squeeze and hold strength better. By exercising your fingers specifically you will develop better weightlifting grip...that is all I can think of for now

Ordering all grippers will cost a lot of money, But they all have a use. a lighter gripper can be used for strap holds and overcrushs.

i still use my T from time to time.....and i am going for my 3 (i have closed T,1 and 2) I have cut it down so there is more range of motion (once you convert to a normal gripper to a cut gripper.....it feels like you are stopping short...it develops your close)

other higher grippers can be used for a negative crush or straight up negatives.

Legion Kreinak2: some people have trouble with the T (even though training with weights) and CCJ and myself live in australia. The postage can be quite high....so the less times ordering the better. having the chance over i would have ordered T,!,2,3,4 all at once.

Iron lion is on the money. There is little cross over. Specificity is the key to grip training. The more you learn the more you will understand the different functions of the hand and wrists.

The Red Dragon: that is untrue. there are many who have closed the 3 with tiny wrists and forearms. I have a video of a man closing a number 3.......10 times! he looks like an average dude of the street.

also only 1 person has closed a number 4...but over 100 have closed the 3.

i believe any MAN could close a number 3 with the right dedication and training

check out heath sexton mashing the number 3 many times

do you know how hard that is? (dont give me the "he didnt open it the whole way bullshit)

how big are his forearms? not very

When I used to do electrical work My forearms became stronger by cutting BX cables. lol They are the electrical cables that have the steel armor around them (now aluminum) and there are different sizes 14-2 , 14-3, 12-2, 12-3 etc. cutting them with pliers was fun to see if you could do it. Yneed alot of "finishing" strenth to go all the way though. A lot of people need two hands but with one hand I was "YEEEAAAHHHH"

Doing that all day. That`s alot of sets and reps. lol
