Broke my wrist.....Now what?

I broke one of the small bones in my wrist last night. The Doctor wants to cast the arm up past the elbow on next Tuesday.

Any ideas at all how I can keep the size that I put on over the last 6 weeks on the three day old school program?

This sucks so bad

wow. that sucks man. i broke my wrist last april and was out of the gym for like 2 and a half months. but dont look at it as how much you can keep on now, look at it as how much more can you put on after youve recovered.

It does suck. I am so pissed because it was one of those fluke things.

Anyway, I would like to preserve as much muscle mass as possible. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am planning on continuing to work legs as much as possible. And maybe hit the cardo hard to cut up.

For the time being I am just enjoying my Codine.

If you have ever read anything by Bill Star you know that training with squats will help to keep upper body size. So I would be sure to squat and squat heavy. I have also thrown together a list of movements you can still do (I Think)

squat
leg curls-extensions
calves
pec dec
machine laterials
Abs- lower back

And I am sure there are more..how about it can anyone add to the list?

Don't be a pussy! Just tighten up your wrist wraps and train!

Only kidding. Don't fuck around and let the wrist heal or it will be a problem the rest of your life.

Shitty luck...

However, if it's your dominant hand that's busted this would be a good time to equal out the strength in each arm.

ZenMachine, do not screw around with the wrist. I broke a
small bone in my wrist in 1976 - scaphoid. I did not have it
casted. This was a huge mistake. I had to have surgery in
1991 to fix the thing. It got worse after the surgery. My
wrist is really stiff. There is a lot of scar tissue in it. Only
another surgery is going to fix that.

Get it casted. Get it healed now. In three months, you will
probably be as good as new. Again, do not screw around
with this type of injury.

Squat twice per week.

5 sets of 5 on one day and 1 sets of 20 reps on the other.

Add in some seated or lying leg curls and extensions and focus on slightly reducing bodyfat.

Do what you can...

Squat as much as possible and really work anything else that you can...

This calls for some creativity. I've seen guys with busted hands wrap towells or something around their forearms and do single cable curls. There's also a guy in my gym who has no left forearm, but he lifts all the time. Has a decent upper body too.
