Bioavailability of canned protein drinks

I read that the bioavailability of protein in canned protein drinks may be as low at 10%. That means that the body would only be able to absorb less than 4 grams of protein from drinks like 'Worldwide Ultra Pure Protein Shake' or 'American Bodybuilding Pure Pro Shake' or 'Myoplex Carb Sense Ready To Drink Shakes', which advertise 30-35 grams of protein. Can that be right???

??????

Dissolve some whey powder in water

it is a canned protein drink with a very high bioavailability

What's on the label ?

The main ingredients are: water and protein blend (calcium caseinate, milk protein concentrate). According to the article, it's the heating process - necessary to keep the drink from going bad over long period of time - that decreases the bioavailabilty.

Heat denaturalizes a little the proteins
but not that much

Otherwise canned tuna, canned salmon etc would be "useless"
