Beer?

I think I can stick with a good workout/diet routine. My question is how bad would alcohol affect my weight loss/muscle gain?

Is it safe to cut down on my food intake during a day I plan on going out and drinking in order to offset the carb intake? Do those carb absorption inhibitors really work for this kind of stuff?

Its not that I need to drink but that I'm a really shy bastard when it comes to going out with friends and I NEED to throw back a bunch in order to be more sociable.

I was under the impression that it was beer and coolers and the sort that was bad for you.

If you need to drink, go for the Vodka 7. It's vodka and DIET 7-up.
It is supposed to be the lowest carb drink out there now!!

But I don't know how bad just alcohol is for your diet in terms of carbs and such.

I believe everything in moderation. I'm jsut more mindful of what I want out of life now; so now i workout, and trying to go at it hard.
But that doesn't stop me from an occassional beer with the boys ;)

empty calories

If you want to take alcohol, vodka or red wine would be better choice

Like I said, I know its bad for you. Drinking alcohol will not help me get into shape.

Its not that I don't have the willpower to resist...its that I'm extremely introverted and I think going out with my friends would be hell w/o throwing a few back.

I was thinking that, perhaps, instead of having 5th or 6th meal that day that perhaps skipping it would be favorable.

I'll have to try the vodka/diet 7-up thing. I hope bars carry that stuff though.

why would they not? it's a bar right? vodka is everywhere.....?or will your mates laugh at you for drinking diet 7up or something?

don't skip a meal just for alcohol, that's just dunce. keep it to a mminumum

actually that's a real issue (I'm pretty serious here)

Asking for diet soda or plain water when everybody drinks alcohol or beer is not that simple

Especially when you're a guy

Alcohol plays an integral role - unfortunately - in social life

Don't skip a meal, and my main concern would be the alcohol content not the few carbs, and if you are going to drink milk that sh*t.

Alcohol deflates the sh*t out of my muscles. It makes you piss out all of your water weight. I rarely drink, but when I do, I drink more water than usual during the day, and as soon as I get home I drink as much water as I can to try and keep the dehydration to a minimum.

I always feel guilty as hell, after a night out drinking. I now tell my friends I don't drink any more and they respect me for it, but I still cheat on bike week or other big events here.

Yeah I asked for a jack and diet coke once. I felt immasculated. Anyway, that's not too big of a deal. I'm more concerned with a bar having more diet sodas than just diet coke. My immediate concern about trying vodka and diet 7-up was the availability of the 7-up.

I also heard scotch was one of the better liquors. From what i understand it and vodka are one of the few alcohols that don't kick you out of ketosis. Hence they are almost completely alcohol instead of alcohol and sugars.

I'm completely up for drinking more water a day before I drink, more when I come home, and more the next day.

I would think that because wine is made with grapes that the wine would contain simple sugars which are bad. Honestly, I can drink wine/beer/liquor so I'm down for any suggestions.
