7g of Carbs today....question

7g of Carbs today....Sigh.....

But on that note, I figure since this is my 2nd day like this, I might as well try this whole Keto thing. I wasn't purposely trying to Keto, but going to go forward with this. This will be interesting.

Between all the threads here and on bb.com I have read so much about this stupid thing today...

My only QUESTION.....most things I have read say that protein intake has to be only 1g/lbm. Does it make a difference if it is higher?

Taken from Mr.X's CKD Manual - CKD Manual By: Mr.X - Anabolic Steroids - Steroid Forums

"Now, you might ask, why is the protein so low? Because protein can keep you out of Ketosis and, remember, everyday you are in Ketosis, you are burning fat while preserving muscle because Ketones (hence the name Ketosis) are protein sparing. Protein can convert to glycogen at almost 58% efficiency, so you see why excess protein is a bad idea. Plus, strictly from a scientific standpoint, a person can maintain current muscle mass at merely a 15%protein ratio, while no muscle gain is possible, maintenance is a very feasible idea with these ratios."

oso,

Thank you, I had this post my Mr.X referred to a few times, and everytime I searched it came back with no results when searching by name. Thank you for posting this up for me.

I guess I see now why protein is supposed to be watched carefully. Thanks again.

In practice, most people end up eating about 1 gram of fat for every gram of protein. Ketosis almost always establishes with 1/1 ratios.

Thats the key phrase I took from there, since that is about what I have seen yesterday and today.

No problem!

Ok so about an hour ago, I used a Keto Strip. Came back dark. Bottle says 80/mg is the color. Now I am very hydrated, have consumed less than 30g of carbs total for the past 3 days, and this is my first time with Keto, is it possible that I am really this far into Keto already?

Thanks

Ok, so like a fool, I got on the scale and now I am kind of weirded out, like so many posts I have read. I gained 5lbs in the past 5 days.....sigh.....tell me this is normal until my body gets used to this lol

I have had about 160g of Fat and Protein, with the fat a few grams higher everyday. Most Carbs on any given day is 7g. Still eating in calorie reduction below maintenance. Ho hum lol...

regardless if your in keto or not, you still need to be in calorie deficit to drop weight, you can't just splurge 4000 cals of cheese steaks, hot dogs, peanut butter all day and work a desk job all day with no excercise. Moderate paced cardio is the key to keto, stay active

I feel like complete crap when im in ketosis, I hate it.
Workouts suck.

I did drop weight quick though.
