The biggest chains I can get right now are 3\8'...i NEED them for suspended lifts

Are these ok for maybe a few weeks until I can get 5\8' chains?

I really really want to do suspended lifts now and not wait...specifically good mornings. I'm like a big baby

maybe rig some ropes up alongside the chains, just in case? im sure somebody else will reply that knows a lot more about this than i do, seeing as i dont have chains nor have i ever done a suspended good morning

they're fine.. i use 5/16s for suspended lifts.. and they have a 4200lb capactiy.. just be more careful if you want to be.

Ive dumped over 500# onto 3/8 chain with no problems . The rack and the added link (whatever you are using to close up you loop of chain ) are what you have to watch out for. It doesn't hurt to have the pins set just below your ROM either.

sounds good to me

its just a temp thing

oh yeah, and i won't be using any weight higher than 315 for now

.....FOR NOW

hehehehe

dude.... do realize the pulling capacity of 3/8" its over 5000 lbs depending on how you rig it up. don't worry about it.

i use 3/8 and have SLAMMED 865 down on top of them no prob.

however, be careful of what you use to put the chains together. we double up the carabeeners (sp?).

we also use safety pins so if the chains snap something will catch the bar (never happened).

Same here as Irish, but with little smaller numbers.

I have hit the chains pretty hard with well over 600, and no problems at all. I use 3/8. I don't use carabiners for my set up, though, I run a bolt through the eyes, and secure it down with a nut.

I set the catch bars up just below the bar, just in case, but that is probably overkill. I can't imagine a 5000 lb tensile strength chain snapping before a 1500 lb rated bar would give out. I also cannot see me going much over a grand any time soon on this exercise, so I doubt that either the bar or the chain is in any kind of trouble.

hmm

how about i use locks to keep them together?

like heavy duty locks

Well the 3/8 I use on suspended GM's are rated at 5500 and the connectors are rated at 2500 each and I double up on them... Paul Anderson himself would have had a hell of a time overstressing that.. LOL

We have the same set up...using bolts as connectors. No worries.
