I tried out a protein bar a buddy of mine sells at his gym. The ingredients showed 1g of sugar and 15g of sugar alcohol. What's the dif. b/n this and reg. sugar and wouldn't you count it the same?
Sugar alcohols are derived from sugar and are simply just replacements to sucrose..
if you notice on the sugar free foods, these can be found in the product as a replacement of the sucrose. sugar alcohols are not digested by the body but still do have some calories, just not nearly as many as regular sucrose (table sugar)
i know with some people these can cause major stomach issues if you eat too many..diarrhea and gas are of the most common side effects of over consumption
