I have a question for anyone who could answer me please.

It seems that I always retain a lot of water while im working out and i look like shit but when I am done(30 min later) I look a lot better. I am also on a cutting diet. Can anyone explain this and tell me what could be wrong or what I am doing wrong. Thank you for the advise.

6'2 220lbs

Diet= low carb 47g, high fat 136g, high protien 216g.

I am not seeing how you will retain water just during your workout. But maybe, and this is right out of my ass, it could just be all the extra blood that is being pumped into your muscles and maybe the skin and fat around them that is making you look not as hard. It seems when I work out I definitely look bigger and maybe a little ‘softer’ because of the blood. I doubt there is anything you are doing wrong to cause this if it is water anyways. Drinking water during the workout is a must. Plus you are in the gym to lift, not show off to the girls…

Def true. The muscles look better when work out def but it's in the stomach area. My love handles seen to get bigger when i work out, lol. it also seems like all the fat is starting to go wasy except for my love handles and the lower ab region. I do the cardio and the abs. Let me know. Thanks for the imput.

Too much of a a pump will actually take away from your cuts. It is why when we compete, in the pump up room, the idea is just to pump a very little blood to the area, not "work out". Too much blood will indeed make you look smooth. For instance in the ab area, when in the gym pre contest, abs can be great. But work them hard, and they actually can get blurred, till the pump goes down. Thus the reason for pre stage pumping with very light weights or bands.

Just a thought - you're doign a low carb diet -- running low carbs at near Atkins Diet level maintenance will definitely leave you looking flatter - possibly more so after training - if you're burnign up the litte glycogen you have stored.

But I think this is the same reason competitors stop training, move to full body hi rep cycles for a few days and then stop training & cardio altogether a few days prior to a show because you look squishy. Same thing w/ getting a massage - sort of like the fluids are "released" but haven't flushed out yet.
