I am trying to cut weight this week for a lifting event this weekend.

I am in my second day folllowing this routine along with eating some light carbs in the morning and protien at noon and evening meals.

Sunday: 2 gal water, heavy sodium

Monday: 2 gal water, heavy sodium

Tuesday: 2 gal water, heavy sodium

Wednesday: 1 gal of water, cut sodium

Thursday: cut water and sodium

Friday morning is weigh ins.

I was fine all day Sunday but I have been having some light headed spells the last two days ........any ideas or suggestions?

dizzy like just light headed or like a buzz? high sodium is not good for your body! I personally cant take in much sodium or i get vertigo because the fluid retention effects my ears... why would you take in high amounts of sodium to cut weight? Id think the oposite would be the thing to do!

I got the water - sodium program form another powerlifting web site...........you load sodium the first few days and cut it on Wed. and switch to plain water.......

I usually weight around 173 and need to get under 165lbs.......Thursday morning I"m at 166.....it will be tuff to go no food or water today, I'll probably have a little.

The lightheaded feeling has been better the last day or two. I ate a few carbs .

Andddd this is why I would never consider doing bodybuilding comps, not that I have the raw materials to do so.

The reason I'm doing it is to make my weight class in a powerlifting contest.

I was told you take in the extra sodium is that it maintains proper electrolyte levels. Otherwise with that much extra water things get out of balance.
