tuna

So I was really bored today and decided to play around with my digi scale. I put a can of tuna unopened on and it said 7 5/8 oz. I opened it up, drained it really good*i have a tuna press* and then put it on the scale(still in the can)and it said 4.5 oz.....so then I took it out of the can and measured the actual amount of tuna in a "6 " oz can and it was 3 1/2. What the hell!!!!
I've been eating only 3 1/2 oz. of tuna from a 6 oz can??? I eat alot of tuna and realize my ratios are messed now*not bad mind you* but still...it's the principle. So should I "assume" that I'm eating 3-4 oz of raw tuna(around 120 cals) or what?

Comp dieting by the way....quite anal at this stage.LOL ;)
Thanks!!

Unfortunately, the listed container weight does not reflect the nutritional guidelines on the packaging for the 'drained solid weight' and it is this that you should go by. But I agree the the 'principle of it' is kinda hard to swallow with the tuna.

4oz White Tuna, in water (drained)

Buy a bigger tin, I suppose. :D

Yep, I measure my tuna drained as well & get anywhere from 2.75oz to 3oz per can, drained...... it varies by each can.... Not consistent at all!!
