Thoughts on Steamed Crab and Shrimp while cutting

black sheep

Just like the title says - I get tired of Fish, Chicken and Tuna. I love crab and shrimp. If it is grilled or steamed, the Nutrition facts seem similiar to lean meats.

What is everyones thoughts?

They are both great sources of protein and are generally overlooked..

HOWEVER, both are rather high in sodium (especially the crab) and cholesterol (especially the shrimp). If you have a problem with cholesterol and/or sodium intakes you may want to limit these and not gorge on them as many would do with chicken for cutting..

mmmm... shrimp... smothered in fresh grated ginger, red chillies, crushed garlic and lemongrass. Toss in a six of ice cold brews and... OOOPS.. mouthgasm.

I take it that everyone agrees that when considering calories, fat, and protein - these are good chicken and fish alternatives?!?

If you can afford it and don't have problems with hypertension or cholesterol, these are as good as tuna or chicken for sure. They aren't a good sub for fish high in EFA's like salmon, but you can supplement those separately.

I personally would eat nothing but king crab if I could resist the urge to drown it in thousands of cals of drawn butter :worried:
