Speed Squats, high band tension, 5-1-02

Dude, awesome post, I like the squat racks especially. I'm going to show them to my buddy who thinks his garage gym is hardcore because he squats with sawhorses and call him an effete, prissy little bitch. You guys who do bottom positon squats get marks from me.
 
b fold, i can double the mini's w/o them breaking.. it adds like 80 lbs just on one side.. im gonna have like 225 lbs of tension.. i hope i can handle it.

since im nice and short at 5'5' the minis dont stretch as much as they would for you
 
Doktor Bollix: Thanks, I have gotten used to doing my squats off of my steel drums. When I go to a commercial gym, like I did with Night Fly, I felt spoiled. I had no idea how much easier it felt to just stand up with the weight and take 1/2 step back...lol. It probably takes away from my squat but helps with my strongman training. I have gotten so spoiled with them though...not for sure if I would do anything else. I can keep my grip all the way out on the bar even when I unrack the bar from the drums.

Deciever: Great on the bands...when is your next speed squat day?

its this friday...im hoping i can handle the mini's doubled and light bands... if not, any other ideas? i was thiking maybe mini's and lights choked
 
Man, I am not an expert and really not for sure if I can give the best powerlifting advice that there is. The circa max phase would probably help you in contest prep...

I am doing these to help my overall speed and athletic explosiveness with my events.

What you could try is this...

Week 1: 95 + lights choked
Week 2: 95 + lights choked + mini's loose
Week 3: 95 + lights choked + mini's choked
Week 4: 95 + lights choked tight + mini's choked tight
Week 5: 95 + lights choked + mini's doubled
Week 6: 95 + lights choked
Week 7: 95 + lights choked
Week 8: Contest

This is just a thought and I was HOPING that Hannibal would chime in here with some thoughts. If you are already into week 2 or so...you could just start there. The deloading phase is important for your contest too!!!

thats actually a great idea.. i have about 5-6 weeks of training left... so i'll modify it....if i try it i'll start at week 3.

I need explosiveness. . i have a slow squat.. im not quick out of the hole, which effects the rest of my lift.
 
You look like you are sweating there, just a bit! :)

I think I am going to invest in some bands when I get the money. I get spoiled in your gym, too...I only wish I had a place that I could do that here. I don't like having to pack up all my crap and drive to the gym...and drive back...and have people stare at me because I'm doing an exercise they have never seen before. It really sucks. Shoot....one day I will have my own home gym and will just be able to go at it when I please. :)

I feel more confident in the home gym, too.

Looks pretty good for a Circa Max or Speed Strength phase....I just worry that you have been on it too long. Dont forget to deload before the contest...will post on your other thread.

I just feel so strong on my events, but do feel the need to back off just a bit. I will deload a good bit for the contest.

Man...I just wanna look pretty for the chicks though...

Can we say slightly sore today? lol

Not too sore...but my legs are very tired. They feel really taxed.

Am I the only one who gets super hungry after training legs...and for the day after? I am starving...
