Speed Squats, high band tension, 5-1-02

i like the idea of high band tension squat... i think i may try them on friday... maybe do mini's doubled and light bands and maybe 95 lbs on the bar
 
Any idea what your estimated 1RM on the squat may be?

You could actually start by using 115 or so for your 8 sets of 2 reps with the light bands choked. I would only add one band at a time...but the mini's probably won't make a huge difference.

I also think that it is key to only rest 45-60 sec between sets. When I count to 35...I'm stepping under the bar again...

i usually do my box squats w/ 125 w/ light bands choked around a dumbell.. so there is tension throughout the movement.. so i'm used to the bands alredy... miini's should add maybe 100 at top if doubled.
 
I think that my mini bands would break if I tried to double them and squat with them...

Do you have any other bands?

only mini and light... maybe if ii just choked the light down extra it would give me a lot more tensioons, and then choke the mini's down really tight too.

i am interested in it, cause you said it really helped your exposiveness,... and im training for a contest too so i think it could help
 
Have you read the article on www.elitefitnesssystems.com about the circa max phase? You should try it...

I would tighten the bands down as much as possible. Wrap them around the bar just as I do...and see what that gives you.

How is your speed when doing the 125 and the light bands? Are the bands tight at the bottom of your squat?

speed is good w/ the light bands.. i get about 10-15 lbs of tension at the bottom.. everything is going good w/ them...

after i finish my homework, i'll check out the article
